The Dallas Holiday Parade steps off in downtown Dallas on Saturday, December 5, 2026. The site banner and the ticket footer both print 8:30 a.m. The route begins at Commerce and Houston Streets, and the parade is free to watch.

One site, three clocks

The organiser's pages carry three times. The FAQ answers the start-time question with "It starts at 9 a.m. and lasts about two hours." The banner reads 8:30 a.m. The vendor schedule resolves both. It prints "PARADE STEPS OFF AT 8:30 AM" and "PARADE HITS TV ZONE AT 9:00 AM" on the same page. Plan the arrival on 8:30.

Free to watch, paid to sit

Watching costs nothing. A guaranteed seat costs money. The organiser installs bleachers and sells seats through Prekindle, with no refunds once purchased. The ticket page says sales opened October 1, and the FAQ says bleacher seats become available beginning October 5. The page also states that seats have sold out within the month for the last four years.

The organiser attempts a reschedule for the following day if weather cancels the parade, and posts the notice on the parade website.

Strollers under the bleachers

The FAQ gives the storage rule in one sentence. Large items such as strollers or walkers can be stored under the bleachers for ticket holders. A family without a ticket brings chairs or blankets and keeps the stroller with them.

The organiser asks spectators to bring as little as possible. The parade is the city's largest one-day outdoor event.

Two parks and one published clock

Main Street Gardens and Civic Gardens carry the pre-parade and post-parade activity: vendors, entertainment and food trucks. The organiser publishes no opening or closing hour for that programme. The vendor schedule covers a separate site, the Verizon Village at Harwood Park, and prints a 7:00 AM festival start with live entertainment from 12:00 PM. The 8:30 a.m. step-off is the only clock the route itself publishes.

That sets the shape of the day. A family arriving before the route begins holds its spot, walks the two hours, eats at the garden and then faces a long stretch before an evening drive home. A guest who walks the route and then joins a call faces the same stretch with a headset and no quiet room.

The dawn arrival, priced

hotelslots.org sells day rooms in four slots: Morning 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., Afternoon 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Evening 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Overnight 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. The morning slot answers a dawn arrival, because a day booking starts its clock at the hour it prints rather than in the afternoon.

The Dayuse Dallas page read on October 23, 2026 listed 29 day-use properties. Four of the cards open at 6 a.m. Baymont by Wyndham Dallas Love Field sells 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. at $61 against an $83 nightly rate. Sonesta Simply Suites Dallas Richardson sells 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at $71 against $85. La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham Dallas Addison Galleria sells 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at $74 against $85. GLO Best Western Dallas South DeSoto sells 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at $80 against $159.

The Dayuse cards carry a booking fee of $5 to $10, and those figures already include it. hotelslots.org states that it charges no booking fees and that the guest pays the hotel directly. The hotelslots.org Dallas directory lists 790 properties.

The call after the route

For a desk rather than a bed, the later windows matter more. Home2 Suites by Hilton Dallas Downtown at Baylor Scott and White runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at $102 against $300, 0.96 straight-line miles from Main Street Garden and 1.56 from the convention centre. Hotel Crescent Court runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at $230 against $600, 1.05 miles from the garden. The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at $168 against $350, 1.35 miles out. Each figure is a straight-line distance. Street closures lengthen any walk down the route.

The organiser points drivers at the Downtown Dallas Inc. parking guide and runners at the train.

DART puts you within blocks

The organiser names the stations. St. Paul, Akard and West End sit on the Red, Blue, Orange or Green Line. EBJ Union Station serves the Red and Blue Line plus the Trinity Railway Express, and the Dallas Streetcar stops at Union Station. Trains run from about 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, and many DART facilities park cars for free.

The organiser recommends a DART Day Pass and a unique form of contactless payment for each rider. Confirm the window on the listing before paying.
