Dallas Market Center runs Lightovation Design + Build Day on Tuesday 5 January 2027, the day before Lightovation opens. The organiser describes the day as designer-led seminars, curated showroom experiences and a closing networking reception, staged for interior designers and other trade professionals.

Lightovation itself runs 6 to 9 January 2027. The market page prints the hours: Wednesday 6 January through Friday 8 January, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday 9 January, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. That is 35 exhibit hours across four days, inside 1 million square feet of exhibits.

The two clocks on 5 January

Design + Build Day publishes two times. A Welcome to Lightovation Tour starts at 10:00 AM, meeting at the TM 1 Koi Pond. Hospitality Giants, presented by Interior Design Magazine, starts at 2:30 PM in TM 3 Loft, Main Stage.

The calendar entry for the same day reads All Day. No building opening hour, no seminar grid and no reception hour appear on the market page. A designer planning around the day has two fixed times.

The clocks behind it

The 6 to 9 January market publishes its hours and a dated event list. Spectrum Social: Scan to Win runs 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM on 6 January in TM 4432. Designed to Connect: Integrating Architecture, Landscape and Light, presented by Business of Home, starts at 2:00 PM the same day in TM 3 Loft. The Exteriorscape Expansion Reception starts at 4:00 PM on 6 January in TM 4. Speaking of Retail starts at 10:00 AM on 7 January in TM 3 Loft. The 37th ARTS Awards Gallery Preview Party starts at 6:00 PM on 7 January in 2F336-IHDC. The 37th Annual ARTS Awards Gala starts at 6:00 PM on 8 January, offsite at The Anatole Hotel, and carries a ticket.

The Welcome to Lightovation Tour also runs at 10:00 AM on 6, 7 and 8 January.

Badge, fee and the trade-only rule

The campus opens to trade professionals only. The admission policy states that the market is not open to the general public, requires a DMC-issued badge worn visibly inside the buildings, and sets a $150 new business application fee with 90 days to qualify. The Design + Build Day page sends returning attendees to a registration link and new visitors to an RSVP form.

Arriving with a bag

Luggage check sits in WTC130 on campus. Rideshare pickup sits at the Trade Mart front entrance. Parking is free across the campus, including handicap spaces, and shuttles run to select hotels and campus parking lots with times that vary by market.

Valet at the front of the World Trade Center runs 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday at $8, with no charge for interior designers and independent decorators, and it does not operate during the January and June Total Home & Gift markets. The lot in front of IHDC becomes buyer-only parking during January markets and fills early.

The day windows near campus

Day-use inventory read on 22 October 2026 from the Dayuse Dallas page listed 20 priced properties. The cards run $61 to $230 all-in, with booking fees of $5 to $10 and a card average of $95.30. Windows open between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM and close between noon and 11:00 PM.

Hotel Crescent Court, 400 Crescent Court, sells a single 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM window from $220 plus a $10 booking fee, 1.35 miles straight-line from the Dallas Market Center address at 2100 North Stemmons Freeway. Comfort Inn & Suites Dallas Medical-Market Center, 1521 Inwood Road, sells from $65 plus $6 on 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and noon to 8:00 PM windows, 1.58 miles out.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Dallas Downtown at Baylor Scott & White, 3301 Gaston Avenue, sells from $95 plus $7 on three windows including 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 2.66 miles from the campus address. Sleep Inn Dallas Love Field-Medical District sells from $74 plus $6 on four windows opening from 8:00 AM, 3.29 miles out. Baymont by Wyndham Dallas/Love Field sells from $55 plus $6 on four windows running from 6:00 AM to noon, 5.29 miles out.

The Stoneleigh, Autograph Collection sells a single 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM window from $158 plus $10 at 1.09 miles from the campus address. Embassy Suites Dallas Market Center sells one 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM window from $105 plus $7 at 1.19 miles. Hyatt Regency Dallas sells a single 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM window from $150 plus $10 at 2.04 miles.

Rates and windows come from the Dayuse shelf. The hotelSlots Dallas directory lists 790 hotels for a rate request.

Two clocks to plan against

The 8:30 AM hall hour on 6 January is the constraint a day window has to meet. The Comfort Inn 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM window opens 30 minutes before the hall and closes two hours before it. The 9:00 AM starts at Crescent Court, the Stoneleigh and the Hyatt land 30 minutes after the hall opens.

Both published times on 5 January sit inside a 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM window. Both also sit inside the Comfort Inn 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM window. The reception has no printed hour, so the last published time on the day is 2:30 PM.

No card publishes a check-in or check-out term. Each sells a fixed window, and the window is the agreement.

The four-day case sits outside day use

The market that follows runs four days from 8:30 AM, closes at 3:00 PM on the Saturday, and hosts an offsite gala at 6:00 PM on the Friday. Day windows close between noon and 11:00 PM, so the four-day stay needs overnight inventory. The day window covers 5 January, the arrival day, and the hours before a 3:00 PM or later flight out.

The printed figures are these. Design + Build Day on Tuesday 5 January 2027, with a 10:00 AM tour at TM 1 Koi Pond and a 2:30 PM session in TM 3 Loft. Lightovation 6 to 9 January, 35 exhibit hours from an 8:30 AM opening. Twenty priced day cards at a card average of $95.30.
