An Eighteen-Day Run With Unsold Hours in the Middle
SF Sketchfest 2027 holds Jan 14 - 31, 2027, as its own home page prints. That is eighteen days of programming in San Francisco. The festival's About page describes a programme of sketch, improv, stand-up and alternative comedy, and adds that the festival delivers top quality comedic performances, tributes and panel discussions.
The 2027 lineup and the per-show clock times are not published. The home page reads "Lineup announcing in November!" and the schedule page still carries the festival's previous window, so a remote-working attendee cannot book around a specific curtain time today. What can be planned now is the shape of a festival day: a room held for the hours between an afternoon show and an evening one, and the work that happens in that gap.
What the Organiser Has Already Fixed
The Venues page lists twelve San Francisco rooms for the festival:
- BATS Bayfront Theatre and BATS Bayfront Theatre Annex, Fort Mason Center, 2 Marina Blvd, Building B, 94123
- Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Avenue, 94133, ages 18+ unless otherwise noted
- Eclectic Box, 446 Valencia Street, 94103
- Great American Music Hall, 859 O'Farrell Street, 94109, ages 6+ unless otherwise noted
- Great Star Theater, 636 Jackson Street, 94133
- Lost Church, 988 Columbus Avenue, 94133
- Marines' Memorial Theatre, 609 Sutter Street, 94102
- Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, 3301 Lyon Street, 94123
- Punch Line Comedy Club, 444 Battery Street, 94111, ages 18+ unless otherwise noted
- Sports Basement Presidio, 610 Old Mason Street, 94129
- The Sydney Goldstein Theater, 275 Hayes Street, 94103
Two rules matter to a working attendee. Tickets run through Eventbrite unless a venue is noted otherwise, and eight of the twelve rooms publish the same in-person box office window, from sixty minutes before any show to fifteen minutes after it begins. Cobb's, Punch Line and Great American Music Hall publish their own in-person hours. The Sydney Goldstein Theater lists a ticket phone line at 415-392-4400, Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gap the Day-Use Market Sells
hotelSlots books a room in four windows: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. The platform describes a day-use room as typically six to eight hours without an overnight stay, and prices day-use at 30-75 percent below nightly rates at the same hotels on its home page, with 40-60 percent below overnight on its day-use page. Booking is free to use, with no booking fees.
An afternoon show that lets out at 4 or 5 p.m. and an evening show that starts at 8 or 9 p.m. leave a gap that a hotel lobby does not cover. The Afternoon slot covers that gap from noon, and the Evening slot runs to midnight for calls after the second show. The platform sells single slots and combined slots for full-day coverage. California is not among the four states the platform names, FL, HI, IA and WA, where it says state travel laws restrict day-use bookings, so a San Francisco gap is bookable.
Where the Rooms Sit Against the Twelve Venues
The platform's San Francisco directory lists 562 properties. Counting the addresses into ZIP codes maps the festival: 94123, the Fort Mason and Palace of Fine Arts cluster, carries 29 directory members; 94133, the North Beach rooms at Cobb's, Great Star and Lost Church, carries 26; 94109, around Great American Music Hall, carries 51; 94102 carries 69; 94103, home to the Sydney Goldstein Theater and Eclectic Box, carries 38; 94111, around Punch Line, carries 5; and 94129, the Presidio, carries 2.
Three overlaps are worth noting. Marines' Memorial Club is a directory member at 609 Sutter Street, 94102, the same address as the festival's Marines' Memorial Theatre. Hotel Sunrise sits at 447 Valencia Street, 94103, across from the Eclectic Box venue at 446 Valencia Street. Hotel Kabuki, 1625 Post Street, 94115, is a directory member and one of the two hotels the festival names as Major Sponsors.
Driving estimates from the venue anchors, from OpenStreetMap data, put Hotel Boheme 0.4 miles and Hotel Caza 0.3 miles from Cobb's Comedy Club; Hotel Del Sol 0.8 miles, La Luna Inn 1.2 miles and the Inn at the Presidio 1.9 miles from Fort Mason Center; and The Mosser Hotel 1.8 miles from the Sydney Goldstein Theater.
What the Organiser Does Not Publish
The festival's pages carry no gym, desk, Wi-Fi, luggage or 24-hour amenity line for either sponsor hotel, and no showtime grid for 2027. The platform publishes its own wording instead: a quiet professional space with reliable Wi-Fi, a real desk and ergonomic seating, privacy for calls, and access to amenities for gym, coffee and restaurant breaks between calls on its remote-work page. Its short-stay guide adds that Wi-Fi, a proper desk, gym access, pool access and parking can all vary by property, so the extras have to be confirmed on the specific listing.
Book the Slot Before the Lineup Lands
Two facts argue for booking early. The platform states that day-use inventory is limited by design, that a single room can host only so many daytime slots in one day, and that the best slots at the best properties fill first, especially weekday afternoons. January 14-31, 2027 includes twelve weekday afternoons, and the festival's own schedule lands in November.
Read the venue list first, pick the ZIP that covers the shows the attendee intends to see, then hold an Afternoon or Evening slot in that ZIP. Confirm the desk, the call privacy and the cancellation terms with the property when it responds, and recheck the day rate on the day of booking.
