The window NLC has published

The 2027 Congressional City Conference runs 15-17 March 2027 at the Marriott Marquis, 901 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001. NLC lists pre-conference events on 13-14 March and labels 17 March as Capitol Hill. Registration opens in November 2026 during City Summit. The rates page calls online registration the quickest path to a registration and to housing.

NLC states that CCC attendees can add Hill Day to a registration at no additional cost. Hill Day stays restricted to elected officials, city staff and State Municipal League staff.

Five nights, and the four-night version

Check in Saturday 13 March and check out Thursday 18 March, and the stay runs five nights. Drop the Wednesday night and the stay runs four. Hill Day takes Wednesday 17 March, and NLC's Hill Day page tells registrants to plan the entire day. A delegate who flies out Wednesday evening gets the Capitol Hill meetings and no Wednesday bed.

A delegate attending the main conference alone arrives Sunday 14 March and departs Wednesday 17 March or Thursday 18 March.

Where the calendar tightens

The first night is the hardest of the five to fill. Saturday 13 March is the arrival night for anyone attending pre-conference, and it is the day NLC's planning grid opens the first registration desk. The DC/Maryland Black College Expo runs 10:00 to 14:30 that Saturday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 0.14 straight-line miles from the Marriott Marquis. Two events put demand on the same blocks on the same morning.

The Tuesday night carries the second squeeze. The Hill Day page requires registrants to attend a one-hour technical and issues briefing the day before Hill Day. The planning grid lists the Hill Day training session on Tuesday at 15:30 to 16:30. A delegate on Capitol Hill the next morning stays Tuesday night.

The Wednesday night is the one to release. Hill Day is the last item on the calendar, and a delegate who leaves Wednesday evening frees that night.

Two cautions on the clock. The schedule-at-a-glance page still prints the 2026 grid and states that it does not fully reflect the 2027 schedule. The Hill Day page still prints the 2026 dates, with Hill Day on Wednesday 18 March and the briefing on Tuesday 17 March. Both 2026 windows run Saturday to Wednesday, so the sequence carries into 2027 with every date one day earlier. Confirm the 2027 briefing slot when registration opens.

The registration line the grid publishes

Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM, registration and Ask NLC open. Sunday, 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Monday, 7 AM to 5:30 PM. Tuesday, 7:30 AM to 3 PM. Wednesday, Hill Day, from 9 AM all day. Those five lines are the 2026 grid and stand as the planning shape for the 2027 run.

The 2026 edition drew more than 2,800 local leaders, and more than 1,100 of them went to Capitol Hill.

What the badge costs

Rates on the page are the 2026 ladder, and NLC labels 2027 figures as subject to change. NLC member: $770 with the City Summit attendance discount, $880 early bird, $1,005 advance, $1,105 onsite. State municipal league member: $845, $980, $1,105, $1,205. Nonmember: $985, $1,010, $1,210, $1,310.

Groups of five or more receive a complimentary sixth registration. The 2026 cancellation terms required written notice to nlc@maritz.com by 20 February with a $125 fee.

Day rooms for the arrival morning and the departure gap

The official room path is the NLC housing block, booked through Maritz Global Events. The day-room market covers the hours before a check-in and the gap between a morning checkout and an evening flight. Dayuse Washington, read 24 October 2026, carried 20 priced cards with seven in the District. No card covers the Marriott Marquis itself. Distances are straight-line from the Marriott Marquis pin at 38.9036070, -77.0247416.

AC Hotel Washington DC Convention Center, 0.25 miles out, sells 08:00-14:00, 10:00-17:00 and 13:00-19:00 at $104. Le Meridien Washington DC, The Madison, 0.53 miles out, sells 09:00-15:00, 10:00-17:00 and 15:00-20:00 at $140. Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square, 0.56 miles out, sells one window, 09:00-18:00, at $169 with no booking fee. The Capital Hilton, 0.60 miles out, sells 07:00-13:00, 10:00-16:00 and 10:00-17:00 at $116. The Beacon Hotel and Corporate Headquarters, 0.75 miles out, sells five windows from 08:00-17:00 to 14:00-20:00 at $96. Melrose Georgetown Hotel, 1.49 miles out, sells 09:00-16:00 and 14:00-20:00 at $111. Viceroy Washington DC, 0.55 miles out, sells 09:00-17:00 and 14:00-21:00 at $144.

Each card states a maximum booking fee, from $5 at the AC Hotel to $9 at Le Meridien and the Viceroy. The Sofitel card states none.

Two bookings answer this schedule. A Saturday 13 March arrival before the room is ready takes 08:00-14:00 at the AC Hotel for $104. A Thursday 18 March departure with hours to fill takes 09:00-18:00 at the Sofitel for $169, or 10:00-17:00 at the AC Hotel for $104.

The seven District cards average $125.71 for the day. The page states a $109.92 average day-room price for Washington, and the parsed average across all 20 cards is $105.90.

Booking before November

Registration opens in November 2026, five months before the first night. A delegate booking inside the NLC block fixes the arriving Saturday before then. A delegate holding the edges with a day room can wait for the week of the conference. The platform states that its member hotels discount day rates to fill rooms that would otherwise sit empty during the day.

hotelSlots sells four windows, morning 06:00-12:00, afternoon 12:00-18:00, evening 18:00-00:00 and overnight 00:00-06:00, across 103,857+ hotels in 46 states. It states day rates 30-75% below the nightly rate and charges no booking fee. Its directory carries no District of Columbia page, so the rates above come from Dayuse and the block rates come from NLC.
