Portland Estate Seminar Runs in Person, 7:30 AM to 6 PM

The Estate Planning Council of Portland runs its 56th Annual Seminar on Friday, January 29, 2027, in the Portland Ballroom on Level 2 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Portland, Oregon 97232. The venue lists the room as 253, 254 and 255.

Registration opens at 7:30 AM with a continental breakfast. Opening remarks start at 8:00 AM. The first speaker takes the floor at 8:15 AM. Sessions conclude at 5:00 PM and the closing reception runs to 6:00 PM. The day holds ten and a half hours on site.

In person, with no dial-in

The FAQ states that the 2027 event runs in person only and that no livestream exists. A registrant who cannot reach Portland still receives the digital binder and the session recordings, and neither arrives live.

Accreditation covers the Oregon State Bar, the Oregon Board of Accountancy, the Oregon Insurance Division, the Oregon Board of Tax Examiners, the Washington State Bar, the Washington Board of Accountancy, the Washington Insurance Division, the Institute of Certified Bankers, the Investment Management Consultants Association, the CFP Board and the American Bankers Association CTFA. Past seminars have been approved for 6.0 to 8.0 hours. The council publishes the 2027 figure closer to the event.

What the day costs

An Estate Planning Council of Portland member pays $325 before January 8, 2027 and $375 after that date. A non-member pays $425 before January 8 and $475 after.

Registration stays open to the day of the event. A registration filed after 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 27 may wait at the badge desk, and all changes after that hour move on site.

Parking sits outside the tuition. The convention center garage charges $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges, and event entry takes a dynamic $15 to $25.

The binder and the 3:00 PM rule

Every in-person registration includes a digital binder, a PDF of the handouts and slides, emailed the Monday before the seminar. That is January 25, 2027. A printed binder costs $100 with a registration and $130 without one, and orders close on January 8, 2027. The council ships printed binders to buyers who do not attend. An attendee collects the binder at the seminar.

The FAQ sets a hard rule on collection. Materials not claimed by 3:00 PM on the day of the event go to recycling or to another buyer, and the council refunds nothing for unclaimed materials. An attendee who leaves a $100 binder on the table loses it two hours before sessions end.

Recordings arrive two to eight weeks out

Video recordings of the speakers come with a full registration and reach registrants two to eight weeks after the seminar, between mid-February and late March 2027. A buyer who skips the day pays $475 plus a $16.63 fee, or $491.63, for the digital materials and the video, and receives both on the same timetable.

An early non-member registration at $425 buys the live day, the questions after each session and the reception. The recording-only route costs $475 and delivers a file in late February or March.

Cancellation, transfers and meals

A cancellation received by 5:00 PM Pacific on Friday, January 8, 2027 returns the tuition minus a $50 processing fee. After that hour the council refunds no tuition. A registration transfers to another person at no cost by email to epcseminar@ejpevents.com, and transfers run until the day of the seminar.

Tuition covers continental breakfast, coffee breaks through the day, a seated plated lunch and the closing reception with food and beverage. A dietary restriction goes to epcseminar@ejpevents.com or into the registration form. The events team answers at (503) 284-6756.

A working day displaced

Ten and a half hours on site pulls a billable Friday. A professional who bills hourly prices the day against the seven sessions, the 6.0 to 8.0 credit hours past seminars carried, and the two to eight week wait for the recording. The reception closes at 6:00 PM, so a return to the office that evening does not fit.

A day room takes the edges off that schedule. The hotelSlots directory lists 278 hotels taking day-use requests in Portland, in four slots: Morning 6 AM to 12 PM, Afternoon 12 PM to 6 PM, Evening 6 PM to 12 AM, and Overnight 12 AM to 6 AM. The platform charges no booking fee.

Four directory properties sit within two miles of the doors. The figures are straight-line measurements from 777 NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Inn at the Convention Center, 420 NE Holladay Street, 0.14 miles. Hyatt Regency Portland, 375 NE Holladay Street, 0.15 miles. Motel 6, 518 NE Holladay Street, 0.18 miles. Courtyard by Marriott Portland Downtown/Convention Center, 435 NE Wasco Street, 0.31 miles.

The council names The Heathman Hotel, 1001 SW Broadway, as the official seminar hotel and puts the distance at approximately 1 1/2 miles from the convention center. The FAQ routes guests to the Red and Blue MAX lines through Pioneer Courthouse Square, a three-block walk from the hotel.

A Portland day room covers the hours before the 7:30 AM desk opens and the hours after the 6:00 PM close, with no room night and no checkout.

The dates that decide the price

January 8, 2027 sets the tuition, the binder order and the refund window. January 25 delivers the digital binder. January 27 closes online changes at noon. January 29 opens registration at 7:30 AM, ends sessions at 5:00 PM and recycles an unclaimed binder at 3:00 PM.
