Two calendars, one night apart

The Oregon Convention Center card for Spotlight Dance Cup 2027 reads February 5 to 7 in the Oregon Ballroom. The card publishes no daily clock. The structured event data on that page reads a 6:00 AM start on Friday, February 5 and an 11:59 PM close on Sunday, February 7.

The organiser prints a wider span. Spotlight Events lists the Portland stop as feb 04-07 with the words "thursday added" beside the dates. That line puts a working Thursday ahead of the three days the building publishes. February 4 is the night the two calendars disagree on.

The 6 a.m. garage

The convention center garage generally opens daily at 6:00 AM. It holds 800 spaces across two levels. Parking runs $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges, and OCC charges a dynamic $15 to $25 at garage entry during events. Overnight parking is prohibited. Clearance reads 7 feet on P1 and 9 feet on P2.

The drive-through booths accept credit and debit cards and touchless payment. Five ATMs sit in the venue. A reverse ATM in the MLK Lobby exchanges cash for a Visa card that loads once, carries no fee, and works at the restaurants, the cafes and the garage.

A Thursday with no published door time

Neither page posts a Thursday hour. The organiser states that the full schedule will be released approximately two weeks prior to the competition. Teacher packets carry the general schedule and the studio-specific schedule with entry numbers. Studio-specific schedules unlock when the account is paid in full.

Two rules carry a clock today. Photogenic entry is taken at the Spotlight Boutique and closes one hour prior to scheduled awards. A studio that wants a different performance time files a special request through its director before the closing date and pays $20 per request. Solos carry no schedule requests.

Registration opens October 1. A studio that pays by December 28 applies the published discount. January 4 is the last day to register at the standard rate.

What a room costs on the Thursday

Spotlight publishes a group rate at the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street. The rate is $149 nightly and the cut-off date is January 15.

A day room prices below that. Dayuse carried 19 Portland properties with a day rate at 19:47 UTC on October 19, 2026. Jupiter Original lists $89 against a $150 nightly rate, 41 percent lower, with windows of 10am to 4pm and 5pm to 11pm. Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown lists $110 against $173, 37 percent lower, on five windows that include 7am to 2pm and 9am to 9pm. Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland lists $106 against $200, 47 percent lower, on windows of 8am to 3pm and 10am to 5pm. Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown lists $134 against $184, 28 percent lower, on a single 9am to 5pm window.

Engine puts the Portland average nightly rate at $124 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. January averages $109, which is 12 percent below the city average. February averages $118.

hotelSlots sells four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. Two adjacent slots cover a competition day. The platform lists 103,857 hotels across 46 states, publishes day rates 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate, and charges no booking fee. Oregon is absent from the four states its home page names as restricting day-use bookings.

The Boutique and the twenty dollars

The Dance Down runs as a ticketed add-on inside the event. The organiser describes a professional audition: dancers learn a short jazz-style combination on stage for the judges, compete in groups, and advance through elimination. Tickets are $20 at the Spotlight Boutique, and dancers register by age on the day.

The Boutique sells on site, so a family meets that cost during the competition.

Saturday and Sunday carry two halls

The venue February 2027 calendar lists Oregon DECA 2027 in Hall B from February 6 to 9. Two events run in the building on Saturday and Sunday, and the dance competition holds the Oregon Ballroom across its three published days.

Two first aid rooms sit in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and outside Exhibit Hall E, and the venue takes medical calls on house phone extension 7849.

Wireless internet covers the building. Complimentary service reaches all lobbies and meeting rooms. A Basic tier costs $12 per day and Business Class costs $50 per day, both charged to a credit card. LocketGo lockers take short-term storage at the MLK Lobby, the Holladay Lobby and the Ginkoberry Concourse, and reserve with a mobile device and a credit card.

Booking the hours

Jupiter Original runs $89 on the morning window and $89 on the evening window. The Hyatt Regency group rate of $149 buys the night on the competition block, with the January 15 cut-off attached.

A Thursday call time needs either a Wednesday night in the city or an early Thursday arrival. A day room covers the hours a family spends in the city before check-in.
