Two date spans for one conference
The Oregon Convention Center card for Oregon DECA 2027 reads February 6 to 9 and names Hall B. The card marks the event Registration Required and lists 541.633.4287. It carries no daily clock.
The organiser prints February 6-8, 2027 on its State Career Development Conference page and again on its judge page. Oregon DECA describes a three-day conference with nearly 1,000 students from across the state. The card runs one day past the organiser, to Tuesday, February 9.
Venue terms a delegation meets at the door
Wireless internet runs throughout the building. Complimentary service covers all lobbies and meeting rooms. A paid Basic tier costs $12 a day and a Business Class tier costs $50 a day. Both take a credit card, and customer support sits on site.
LocketGo lockers hold short-term storage at three locations: the MLK Lobby, the Holladay Lobby and the Ginkoberry Concourse. A reservation runs through a mobile device and a credit card.
The building is cashless. Five ATMs sit inside. A Reverse ATM in the MLK Lobby loads cash onto a Visa card that works across the venue and the garage, with no fee.
Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are complimentary on a first-come basis or by reservation. A guest shows photo identification at the welcome desk in the MLK Lobby and returns the equipment at any point in the day. A reservation can be made within 30 days of the event.
Two first aid rooms sit in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and outside Exhibit Hall E. The venue stations an EMT on site at events with attendance over 1,000. House phone extension 7849 reaches the EMT. Two Mamava suites sit near the A and E meeting rooms on level 1.
Who uses a half day of room
The judge corps is the clearest case. Oregon DECA asks judges for a half day and runs nearly 60 competitive events across finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, hospitality and fashion. A judge arrives, scores a block and leaves. That schedule leaves a change of clothes, a laptop and an hour between blocks with nowhere to put them. Judge sign-up runs through or.deca@mg.ctsovolunteer.org.
Advisors carry a different load. The organiser requires one adult for every 15 students and requires advisors to be certificated faculty aged 21 or older. It also requires every participant, advisor and chaperone to stay at the conference hotel for the duration, with no exceptions for delegates who live close by. That rule ties the delegation to the Hyatt Regency Portland. A day room serves the adult who drives in for one committee block, the parent covering a morning shift, and the advisor who needs a desk away from a shared room.
The rules cap a student at four competitive events, with series events on separate days and one cluster exam per testing window.
Where the conference sits
Oregon DECA names the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street, as the conference location. The venue card books Hall B for the same week.
The venue sits eight miles from Portland International Airport. MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the front door, the Portland Streetcar A Loop runs every 15 minutes, and 566 metered spaces sit within three blocks. The garage opens at 6:00 AM, holds 800 spaces and charges $15 for up to 18 hours, with a dynamic $15 to $25 at event entry. Overnight parking is prohibited.
Day rates for the day
No Lloyd District property in the day-use set carries a published rate card. The nearest listed rooms sit downtown and in the Central Eastside. Dayuse listed 19 priced Portland properties on October 19, 2026. Measured from the convention center, the closest is Jupiter Original at 0.48 miles.
Jupiter Original lists $83 against a $150 nightly rate, 45 percent lower, with windows of 10am to 4pm and 5pm to 11pm and a $6 booking fee. Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown lists $125.45 against $184.28, 32 percent lower, 0.69 miles out, on a 9am to 5pm window with $9 in fees. Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown lists $100 against $170, 42 percent lower, 0.91 miles out, across five windows that include 7am to 2pm and 9am to 9pm, with $7 in fees. Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland lists $99 against $200, 51 percent lower, 1.1 miles out, on 8am to 3pm and 10am to 5pm, with $7 in fees.
Engine puts the Portland average nightly rate at $124 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. January averages $109, 12 percent below the city average. February averages $118, 5 percent below it, which puts both conference months on the low side of the year.
hotelSlots sells four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. The platform lists 103,857 hotels across 46 states and publishes day rates 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate, with no booking fee. Oregon does not appear among the four states its home page names as restricting day-use bookings.
Payment paths on both sides
The venue takes cards and touchless payment at the parking booths and across the building. Oregon DECA collects conference payment as one school check, made out as the registration guide directs and mailed to P.O. Box 1440, Owasso, OK 74055. The organiser states that it cannot accept credit cards or purchase orders, and that it issues no refunds or cancellations after registration.
Both registration tiers read TBA on the organiser page.
Booking the hours
A morning window at Jupiter Original runs $83 with the card fee at $6. A school day from 9am to 5pm runs $125.45 at Embassy Suites, 0.69 miles from the doors. A judge working an afternoon block covers it with one Afternoon slot, 12PM to 6PM.
The conference runs the three days the organiser publishes. The venue books one day past it. A room booked for Saturday and Sunday meets the competition. A room booked for Tuesday meets a building that still holds a reservation.
