A midweek programme creates two short-stay groups

The Association for Talent Development brings its OrgDev conference to the Indiana Convention Center in Sagamore 1-7 with a forecast attendance of 1,000. The programme covers organisation development practice: culture, talent strategy and management, leadership and employee development, and human resources. The venue event record carries a September 29 to October 1, 2026 window, and the convention center page heading prints September 30 to October 1, so confirm the arrival day before booking. The programme runs Tuesday to Thursday, and that midweek shape decides who books which kind of room.

Two groups inside this event need less than a full stay. A delegate who lives within driving distance drives in on the middle day, sleeps one night and drives home. A facilitator or speaker may be on site for one session and want a private room for a few hours between the morning block and an afternoon rehearsal, with a shower and a desk. Both groups buy hours.

What the venue publishes about the days

The convention center event page publishes no session start or end times, so no session schedule can be printed here. The venue publishes the daily rhythm around the building. The timeframe for closing and opening the facility and its skywalks is event-dependent, with a rule of thumb of a lock down at approximately 11:00 p.m. and a re-opening at approximately 6:00 a.m. Indianapolis also concentrates its inventory. The venue counts more than half of downtown's 7,100-plus hotel rooms within blocks of the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, puts 4,700 rooms on the skywalk system connected to the convention center, and notes 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport.

Pricing the one night

Engine measures a $128 average nightly par rate in Indianapolis across 1.2M public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, and the month matters. September averages $117, nine percent below the city average, while October averages $134 and May averages $158, twenty-three percent above. Across the year rates swing 32 percent, from $107 in February to $158 in May. A single midweek night at the end of September lands in one of the cheaper windows of the year.

Pricing the hours between sessions

Dayuse publishes $87.43 as the average price of a day room in Indianapolis and states that day hotels run up to 75 percent below an overnight stay. That is a platform figure for the city. hotelSlots puts day-use rates at 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates with no booking fees, and its editorial guide prices a day slot at roughly 40 to 60 percent of a $180 nightly rate. Against a $128 average nightly rate, a day slot prices at a fraction of the night it replaces, which makes a mid-programme room cheaper than extending the stay.

Where the rooms are

The hotelSlots Indianapolis directory reports 273 properties available in the city, a count its own body copy on the same page renders as 123, inside a network the platform puts at 103,857+ hotels across 46 states. The directory lists downtown addresses for the properties nearest the convention center: JW Marriott Indianapolis at 10 South West Street, Marriott Indianapolis Downtown at 350 West Maryland Street, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis at 1 S Capitol Ave, Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites at 120 West Market Street, Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis - Downtown at 110 West Washington Street, Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis-Downtown at 201 South Meridian Street, Hampton Inn Indianapolis Dwtn across from Circle Centre at 105 S. Meridian Street, Le Méridien Indianapolis at 123 South Illinois Street, Omni Severin Hotel at 40 West Jackson Place and Courtyard Indianapolis Downtown at 601 West Washington Street.

How to book the short slot

hotelSlots books day-use rooms in four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. The platform's glossary defines a day-use room as 6 to 8 hours, the slots can be combined for full-day coverage, and the platform charges no booking fees. Those blocks follow the platform's own boundaries, so they will not line up exactly with a session that starts at nine and ends at four. Call the property and confirm the room is held for the window you need.

On Dayuse, the arrival and departure times on an offer cannot be changed, the room is not available before the published arrival time, and the arrival time entered at booking is only indicative. Standard reservations that pay at the hotel cancel free of charge until the slot starts. Bookings carrying a prepaid reservation fee can be cancelled, and the fee is not refunded. hotelSlots states that it cannot process booking requests from residents of, or for travel to, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington. An Indianapolis slot carries no such restriction.

Two nights at the ends of the programme cover arrival and departure, and one night in the middle covers the delegate who drives. The day slot covers the facilitator who is on site for hours. Booking the slot that matches the actual gap is the cheapest of the three, and the cheapest window to do it in is the one the rate calendar already marks down.
