Four convention days, one day in the building
The National Science Teaching Assn Fall Convention runs November 4th through 7th, 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. That window runs Wednesday to Saturday. The venue forecasts 4,000 attendees.
The organiser publishes the exhibit-hall hours. Thursday, November 5 runs 10:50 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 6 runs 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7 runs 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A ribbon cutting opens the hall on Thursday from 10:50 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday each carry exclusive exhibit hours, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 11:40 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. The expo hall invites attendees to meet industry representatives, view product demonstrations and explore science and STEM resources. For a science teacher based in Indianapolis, one day on the floor does not have to mean four hotel nights.
A daytime room between sessions
hotelSlots books daytime rooms in four blocks: Morning 6AM to 12PM, Afternoon 12PM to 6PM, Evening 6PM to 12AM, and Overnight 12AM to 6AM. One block or several can be booked, and the platform describes a day-use room as typically six to eight hours.
The platform markets those rooms with a specific working case: a quiet, professional space with reliable Wi-Fi away from home distractions, business-grade internet, a desk with ergonomic seating, privacy for calls, and gym, coffee and restaurant breaks between calls. Its day-pass guide describes the same room as a focused office with fast Wi-Fi, a real desk and a clean shower between calls.
For a teacher driving in for a single day, that covers the practical gaps. A shower and a change of clothes partway through the day. A quiet room for a call that cannot wait. A place to leave a bag and a laptop while walking the exhibit floor.
Gym and pool access before the drive home
The day-use page states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included. The short-stay guide states that Wi-Fi, a proper desk, gym access, pool access and parking can all vary by property. Both statements are the platform's own. Read together, they mean the gym and the pool are worth confirming on the specific listing before booking. The day-pass guide adds that pools, gyms, saunas and lounges are usually reserved for overnight guests, and that a day pass puts them within reach for a fraction of a typical nightly rate. The evening block, 6PM to 12AM, is the one that covers a workout or a swim after the day ends and before the drive home.
One day room against four nights
Two published averages carry the comparison. Engine publishes a $128 average nightly rate for Indianapolis, drawn from 1.2 million public rate observations between May 2024 and April 2026, with November at $122. Four nights across the convention window, Wednesday through Saturday, comes to $488 on the November figure and $512 on the annual average. Dayuse publishes an average price of $87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis.
That is arithmetic on published averages and not a quoted rate. Day rates move with the property, the time block and the day of the week. The platform's rate guide puts a $180 nightly room at roughly 40 to 60 percent of that figure as a day slot. hotelSlots states day-use rates run 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate at the same hotel. Engine prints its own caveat that its figures are par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
The Indianapolis Convention Center skywalk
The venue reports 4,700 rooms connected to the Convention Center by skywalk. It describes more than half of downtown Indianapolis hotel rooms, 7,100 in total, as within blocks of the venue and Lucas Oil Stadium. Downtown Indianapolis is walkable on the venue's own account. The skywalk system opens and closes on an event-dependent schedule, with the venue giving a rule of thumb of lockdown around 11:00 p.m. and reopening around 6:00 a.m. The convention center address is 100 South Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46225.
Downtown Indianapolis properties
The platform's Indianapolis directory reads 273 hotels available in its header, while the same page body copy reads 123 hotels to choose from. Names in that listing include the Conrad Indianapolis at 50 West Washington Street, the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis at 1 S Capitol Ave, the JW Marriott Indianapolis at 10 South West Street, the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown at 350 West Maryland Street, the Omni Severin Hotel at 40 West Jackson Place, the Staybridge Suites Indianapolis Downtown-Convention Center By IHG at 535 S. West Street, and The Westin Indianapolis at 241 West Washington Street. Addresses are printed as the directory lists them.
Before you book
Confirm the arrival window and the daily timetable with the organizer before the trip. One line on the platform matters most in a week when 4,000 educators are downtown: day-use inventory is limited by design, because a single room can only host so many daytime slots in one day, and the best slots at the best properties fill first, especially weekday afternoons and airport-area locations. Dayuse advertises free cancellation until the last minute.
Indianapolis sits outside the four states where the platform restricts day-use booking. hotelSlots lists Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington as the states where state travel laws limit day-use bookings, and its directory omits those four states.
