One night with a fixed start

Lit Crawl SF 2026 runs Saturday, October 24, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. through the Mission District, and closes with an afterparty at The Drawing Room: ANNEX, 599 Valencia Street, from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. The organiser calls the night the world's largest free pop-up literary event, and counts 250 or more authors and close to 5,000 attendees.

The crawl is free. The organiser's notice on the schedule reads: "No RSVPs are necessary, just show up! Seating + space are first come, first serve." The My Schedule tool is switched off for this edition.

What the published schedule holds

The schedule numbers 52 items across 24 venues. Phase 1 opens at 5:00 p.m. with 20 sessions, Phase 2 at 6:30 p.m. with 17, and Phase 3 at 8:00 p.m. with 14. The 52nd listing is the afterparty, and it carries its own type.

Each phase runs an hour, and a 30-minute gap sits between one phase and the next. The venues cluster on Valencia Street and Mission Street, from Martuni's at 4 Valencia Street to the Latin American Club at 3286 22nd Street.

Saturday daytime holds three items

Three items sit ahead of the crawl. Love Your Library opens at 10:00 a.m. at the Mission Branch Library, Temporary Location. Lit & Libations at The Writers Grotto opens at 2:00 p.m. at 1663 Mission St #602. The pre-crawl tailgate opens at 3:00 p.m. at Page Street Co-working, 297 Page St.

The printed map times the two tailgates: 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at The Writers Grotto and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Page Street. The Sched listing carries the start times above.

The middle of the day stays open. The library item opens at 10:00 a.m., the next item opens at 2:00 p.m., and the crawl starts at 5:00 p.m.

Why the open daytime suits a day room

hotelSlots.org sells four six-hour slots: Morning 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., Afternoon 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Evening 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Overnight 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Its FAQ describes a day-use booking as a room taken for typically six to eight hours. A Morning or Afternoon slot covers the library item and both tailgates, and the Evening slot covers the crawl.

What a day room costs that Saturday

Dayuse's San Francisco page carried 20 day-room cards on the October 14, 2026 read. Nine sat inside the city, and none of the nine carried a Mission District label. The city cards ran $85 to $159 against a published city average of $119.61, and their labels read Yerba Buena, Union Square, Chinatown, Lower Nob Hill, Tenderloin and Fisherman's Wharf.

The lowest of the nine, Hotel Bijou at 111 Mason Street, priced $85 against a $275 nightly rate. The Mosser Hotel at 54 4th Street priced $91 against $299, a 70 percent reduction.

Mission District inventory in the directory

The platform carries a Mission District page at state level with six properties: 24 Henry at 24 Henry Street, Crystal Hotel at 2766 Mission Street, El Capitan Hotel at 2361 Mission Street, Krishna Hotel, Perramont Hotel at 2162 Market Street, and Star Hotel at 2176-2186 Mission Street. The district path under the city returns a 404.

Inside the 94110 ZIP that covers the crawl route, the directory carries pages for Union Hotel at 2030 Mission Street, Foundry Coliving at 550 Guerrero Street, Frances Hotel at 2084 Mission Street and Prita Hotel at 2284 Mission Street. Union Hotel carries a 2-star tier, and the other three carry none.

The 94103 ZIP covers the northern end of the route at 1663 Mission Street. Fourteen of the 240 hotels the city directory shows carry it, and the full San Francisco list reads 562.

Booking notes

Day rates move between reads, so price the room on the day of booking. The platform lists 103,857 or more hotels across 46 states, and publishes a band of 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates with no booking fees. California is not among the four states it lists as restricted for seller-of-travel registration: Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington.
