Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2026 in Golden Gate Park

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2026 ran Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Hellman Hollow and the Lindley and Marx meadows in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. The organiser publishes the event as free, with no tickets needed. The notes below record the published hours, the access rules and the day-use options.

Gate hours, set times and the 6:15 p.m. cutoff

Entrances open at 11 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Performances end at 7 p.m. daily.

The official schedule adds the music window. Friday carried a 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. programme. The two hours between the 11 a.m. gate and the first set carried no stage music. The first Friday set ran 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on the Banjo Stage. The schedule lists no Friday set on the Rooster Stage.

Saturday and Sunday each carried an 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. programme, two hours after the 9 a.m. gate. Sunday's published roster includes Emmylou Harris 5:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the Banjo Stage.

Four entrances serve the festival: JFK Drive and Transverse Drive; Fulton Street and 30th Avenue; JFK Drive and 36th Avenue; and South Polo Field at Middle Drive and Metson Road.

Inside the park, the accessibility cart service sets the first published deadline of the day. Cart hours run from the opening of doors until about 6:15 p.m. At 6:15 p.m. all vehicle and golf cart access on JFK halts for crowd safety. Cart service resumes about 45 minutes later and ends at 7:30 p.m. The organiser accepts no cart request after 6:15 p.m. Once service resumes, riders with ADA wristbands are carried from the JFK cart stops to the shuttle stop at Gate 3.

What the organiser publishes about rooms

The page carries no property list. Its hotels section directs readers to call the Chamber of Commerce, use a travel site, or contact the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. Rooms can be booked at www.sfvisitor.org, or through the Visitor Information Center at 415-391-2000.

Golden Gate Park allows no camping. The page points to Rob Hill Campground in the Presidio and to an RV park by Candlestick Point as the alternatives. A waste management crew sweeps the park each evening. The organiser states that no space can be held for the following day.

Park-side addresses in the day-use directory

The hotelSlots directory lists 562 hotels in San Francisco, read October 6, 2026. Its park-side members carry these published addresses and star tiers: Stanyan Park Hotel, 750 Stanyan St, 94117, 3 stars; Geary Parkway Motel, 4750 Geary Boulevard, 94118, 2 stars; Casa Loma, 610 Fillmore Street, 94117, 2 stars; The Metro Hotel, 319 Divisadero St, 94117, 2 stars; Ocean Inn, 4211 Judah Street, 94122, 2 stars; SeaScape Inn - A FairBridge Hotel, 4340 Judah Street, 94122, 2 stars; Motel 6, 1234 Great Highway, 94122, 2 stars; and Mirage Inn & Suites, 2600 Sloat Boulevard, 94166.

The directory prints no walk time and no distance against any of those entries.

Where day rates are published

dayuse.com publishes day-room slots for San Francisco with a city day-room average of $119.61, read October 6, 2026. Its San Francisco card labels are Yerba Buena, Union Square, Tenderloin, Lower Nob Hill and Chinatown. No card carries a Richmond or Sunset label, and no day rate for a park-side address appears in this trail.

Matching a slot to a festival day

hotelSlots sells four slots: morning 6 a.m. to noon, afternoon noon to 6 p.m., evening 6 p.m. to midnight and overnight midnight to 6 a.m. The afternoon slot covers a full music day on any of the three dates. The evening slot covers the last hour before the 7 p.m. close and the trip home. The platform describes a day-use room as typically 6 to 8 hours. Its own guide calls a four-hour afternoon window a fit for a shower, a nap and a stretch of focused work.

The day-use page lists pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access as included. The short-stay guide states that Wi-Fi, a desk, gym access, pool access and parking can all vary. The site names Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington as states that restrict day-use bookings under state travel laws. California is not among the four.

Getting there

Muni serves the north side of the park with the 5 Fulton, 5R Fulton Rapid, 31 Balboa, 38 Geary and 38R Geary Rapid, and the south side with the N Judah and the 7 Haight/Noriega. The 29 Sunset runs through the park on Crossover Drive. The page states extra Muni service on all three days. Regular fares apply.

Taxi stands sit on Fulton from 22nd to 24th. Ride-share pickups and drop-offs sit around Washington High School on 30th Avenue between Anza and Balboa, and on Balboa between 30th and 31st. Pickups are pinned on Irving between 25th and 27th Avenue. The page describes street parking in the surrounding neighbourhoods as extremely limited, and it expects paid parking run by local PTAs on Saturday and Sunday. Street closures cover JFK Drive between Transverse Drive and Bernice Rogers Drive, and 36th and 30th Avenues between Fulton and JFK Drive.

ADA parking runs along JFK west of Chain of Lakes on a first come, first served basis. The published shuttle stops are JFK and Bernice Rodgers Way, JFK and Chain of Lakes, JFK near the Gate 3 entry, and the GGP Senior Center at 6101 Fulton Street.

Neighbourhood notes

The organiser's Good Neighbor Policy names the Richmond and Sunset districts and asks visitors to leave driveways clear. Its shop-local note points at the Balboa Street, Clement Street and Inner Sunset merchant corridors.

The $119.61 figure is a live listing reading stamped October 6, 2026. Recheck the price and the slot before paying. The accessibility shuttle block on the same page prints its own dates as October 3, 4 and 5, so confirm the hours with the organiser before relying on them.
