Atrium Hotel Miami, Miami Springs, lists $65 against $140, 58 percent off, with windows at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. It sits 7.34 miles and 16 minutes from Commodore Plaza.
Hotel Rendale Miami Beach, Mid-Beach, lists $61 against $250, 78 percent off, with windows at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It sits 13.43 miles and 23 minutes from Commodore Plaza.
Gale Miami Hotel and Residences, Downtown Miami, lists $148 against $370, 63 percent off, with windows at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It sits 5.99 miles and 12 minutes from Commodore Plaza.
The Drive Sets the Departure
A window that ends at 2 p.m. releases the room at the hour the parade starts. From the Moxy the drive to Commodore Plaza takes 21 minutes, so the group leaves at 1:35 p.m. to reach the banana drop. The Gale needs 12 minutes and a 1:45 p.m. departure, the Atrium 16 minutes and 1:40 p.m., the Rendale 23 minutes and 1:30 p.m.
Price and drive time separate the four cards. The Rendale is the cheapest at $61 and the longest run. The Atrium is $65 at 16 minutes, the Moxy $99 with the exact window at 21 minutes, and the Gale $148 at 12 minutes.
An 8 a.m. window ending at 2 p.m. gives two hours before the parade that a 10 a.m. window does not.
Parking and the Walk In
The organiser names the Municipal Garage at Oak Avenue and Mary Street, a block from the route, and lists CocoWalk, Mayfair, Coconut Grove Playhouse, St. Stephens Episcopal Church and Coconut Grove Elementary School as further parking. A driver who arrives before 10 a.m. parks ahead of the closure.
Bike Coconut Grove runs free attended bicycle valet from 12 to 5:30 p.m., in the courtyard of St. Stephen's church off the St. Stephen's parking lot on Main Highway.
Terms That Shape the Day
Admission is free. Children under 16 are recommended to come with an adult. Pets stay at home. Weapons are prohibited, and skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles and scooters are not recommended on the route. A drone needs an FAA registration number and a flight path approved at the parade office a week ahead.
The Strut sells no alcohol. Restaurants and bars along the route serve at their own discretion.
