Three Days in One Stadium

The Bands of America Grand National Championships run 12 to 14 November 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Music for All presents the event with Yamaha and Sweetwater. The venue states that nearly 100 high school marching bands travel to Indianapolis for the chance to be named Grand National Champion. The three dates fall on a Thursday, a Friday and a Saturday.

The published day starts at 6:00 a.m.

The Clock the Venue Publishes

Lucas Oil Stadium lists four times for the event: 6:00 a.m. South Parking Lot Opens, 6:45 a.m. Ticket Office Opens, 7:00 a.m. East Gate Opens and 7:00 a.m. Competition Begins.

Those four lines are the published schedule. The venue event page carries no session timetable, no awards hour and no finals start. A spectator who wants one band, or who needs the hour the night ends, plans around that gap.

The Building Rules That Shape the Day

The stadium's A-Z guide prohibits guests from bringing in food and beverage, apart from guests with special medical or dietary needs. The same guide states the stadium cannot store guests' medications, food or beverages.

Inside, Sodexo Live! runs more than 160 permanent and portable concession stands. Every stand is cashless and accepts major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Two cash-to-card kiosks sit in Sections 105 and 129 for guests carrying cash.

The clear bag policy allows one clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a one-gallon clear freezer bag, plus a small clutch bag the size of a hand. Fanny packs are not allowed. Bags holding medical devices and related supplies, including breast pumps, are exempt from the bag rule and are still screened at the gate.

Where a Day Room Fits

hotelSlots sells daytime hotel slots in four blocks: Morning 6 a.m. to noon, Afternoon noon to 6 p.m., Evening 6 p.m. to midnight, and Overnight midnight to 6 a.m. One booking runs typically 6 to 8 hours, and slots combine for full-day coverage.

The platform states that day-use rates run 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate at the same property, that the room matches the quality an overnight guest receives, and that the service carries no booking fees.

hotelSlots also sells the room as a workspace. Its remote-work page describes a quiet, professional space with reliable Wi-Fi, a desk and ergonomic seating, privacy for calls, and gym, coffee and restaurant breaks between calls. A spectator waiting out a two-hour gap between sessions and a spectator answering email from a car park are buying the same product.

Dayuse publishes an average of $87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis. Engine reports a city average of $128 per night across 1.2 million public rate observations taken between May 2024 and April 2026. November reads $122 on the same page, and February, the cheapest month, reads $107. Both are published platform figures.

The hotelSlots Indianapolis directory lists 273 hotels available. The venue footer gives 7,100 hotel rooms in downtown Indianapolis, 4,700 rooms connected to the Convention Center by skywalks, and 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance.

What to Confirm Before Booking

Read the individual listing before booking. hotelSlots states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included, and its help page states that day-use rooms carry the same amenities as overnight stays, listing WiFi, room service, gym access and business facilities, with duration as the only difference.

The platform cannot process booking requests from residents of, or for travel to, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa or Washington. Its seller-of-travel page names those four states and the registration each state requires. Indiana is not on that list.

Thursday and Friday of this event are weekdays, and the weekend close runs into the Colts home game on Sunday 15 November.
