Three days on the calendar, two on the show floor
Functional Fabric Fair Fall runs October 26 to 28, 2026 at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232. The venue event card shortens that span to October 27 to 28 and names Pre-Function Lobby D. Both readings describe the same two show days. The organiser adds Monday as a third day, labelled Day 0 and given to the OIA Catalyst Conference.
The hours block agrees across both pages. Day 0 runs 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Monday, October 26. The exhibit hall and expert talks run 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27 and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28. Registration is required. The show is trade-exclusive and free of charge to verified designers, product, purchasing, or material managers.
The coffee window sits inside the first ninety minutes
Complimentary coffee runs 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM on both show days, sponsored by Thermore, near the lobby and registration area. That is two hours inside a nine-hour Tuesday and an eight-hour Wednesday. The hall opens at 9:00 AM, so the first half of the window overlaps the opening hour and the second half runs while the floor is trading.
A badge covers the coffee. A badge carries no door to close. A sourcing manager holding four mill meetings before noon reads the coffee window as a schedule marker. The gap sits between appointments.
The VIP lounge covers charging for one group
The organiser lists a VIP Lounge for designated VIP attendees, with complimentary refreshments, comfortable seating and charging stations. The wording sets the boundary. Everyone outside that list takes a seat in a lobby or a corridor.
That gap is the day-use case. A hotel room inside walking distance of the doors gives a badge holder a desk, an outlet, a door and a shower for the hours the show does not fill. On Tuesday that means the hour before the 9:00 AM opening and the two hours after the 6:00 PM close. On Wednesday the same shape runs one hour shorter.
What the building already provides, and what it charges for
The Oregon Convention Center publishes complimentary Wi-Fi in all lobbies and meeting rooms. Paid tiers sit alongside it at $12 per day for Basic and $50 per day for Business Class, charged to a card. Three LocketGo locker banks stand in the building, reservable from a phone with a credit card. A locker handles a bag for a few hours and not a working afternoon.
The venue is cashless and the parking booths take card and contactless payment only.
Day rates within a mile of the doors
Rates below come from the dayuse.com Portland listing, read at 20:27 UTC on October 18, 2026. Distances are straight-line miles from the convention center door.
Jupiter Original sits 0.49 miles out at US$83 against a US$150 nightly comparison, 45 percent lower, on windows of 10am to 4pm and 5pm to 11pm. Jupiter Next sits 0.50 miles out at US$115 against US$209, 45 percent, on 10am to 4pm and 5pm to 10pm. Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown sits 0.90 miles out at US$100 against US$170, 42 percent, on five windows from 7am to 2pm through 5pm to 10pm. Staypineapple Hotel Rose sits 0.90 miles out at US$105 against US$450, 77 percent, on 8am to 2pm and 10am to 5pm. Hotel Lucia sits 0.89 miles out at US$110 against US$219, 50 percent, on 8am to noon, 8am to 3pm and 1pm to 5pm. The Nines sits 0.95 miles out at US$149 against US$450, 67 percent, on four windows from 8am to 4pm through 1pm to 9pm.
No downtown card in the set opens before 7am, and the latest window on the closest pair runs to 11pm. A room booked on the 7am to 2pm Royal Sonesta window covers the coffee hour, the 9:00 AM opening and the morning meetings. It does not cover a 6:00 PM Tuesday close.
hotelSlots sells the same inventory in four slots, Morning 6AM to 12PM, Afternoon 12PM to 6PM, Evening 6PM to 12AM and Overnight 12AM to 6AM, and states that day rates run 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate. The platform lists 103,857+ hotels across 46 states, with Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington excluded by state travel law. Oregon carries no such restriction.
Eight miles from the airport, 800 spaces under the hall
The convention center sits eight miles from Portland International Airport, per the venue parking and directions page. The underground garage holds 800 spaces at $15 for up to 18 hours with no in and out privileges, and a dynamic $15 to $25 applies at entry on event days. The garage generally opens at 6:00 AM and overnight parking is prohibited, so a day room is the only way to hold a base past the evening.
MAX light rail stops 300 times a day at the front door and connects to the airport. The Streetcar A Loop arrives every 15 minutes at NE MLK and Hoyt. Another 566 metered spaces sit within three blocks.
Booking order for a two-day sourcing trip
The official hotel programme runs through Connections Housing with a reservation deadline of October 1, 2026, which has passed. Rooms at the group rate are described as limited and first come, first served, and the page states that official hotels will not honour direct reservations.
Book the day slot against the meeting grid and not against the show hours. Tuesday needs the morning window plus an evening window if the last meeting runs past 6:00 PM. Wednesday needs the morning only, because the floor closes at 5:00 PM. Confirm the exact window on the listing before paying, since inclusions vary by property.
