FMEA 2027 Drops the Exhibit Day Pass

The FMEA Professional Development Conference runs January 13 to 16, 2027 at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St. The city record opens the run at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and closes it at 9 p.m. on Saturday. The association describes roughly 250 clinic sessions and concerts, 24 All-State Ensembles and more than 10,000 attendees. The city's own listing states 22 ensembles.

The 2026 day pass, in numbers

FMEA publishes attendee demographics from the 2026 conference. Music teachers account for 3,075, K-12 students 3,038, and parents and chaperones 2,005. The same block lists 144 exhibit day passes against a turnstile count of 17,305.

The 2027 registration ladder carries no exhibit day pass line. It lists director and member at $175 through December 11 and $220 after, and collegiate member at $75 and $100. Retired member reads $30 either way, non-teaching spouse $105 and $155, paid chaperone $75 and $125, All-State student $75 and $125, and Tri-M student $50 and $75. The pre-conference workshop reads $80 and $100, and the student experience $50 and $75. Membership in FMEA and NAfME is a prerequisite for registration.

A Wednesday-only visit

FMEA describes the pre-conference as a set of sessions on Wednesday afternoon, centred on a common topic. The page states that more detail for 2027 will follow, and carries no session list and no times.

A director who attends Wednesday only pays the member rate of $175 and the workshop rate of $80 at the early deadline, which is $255. The same pair after December 11 is $220 plus $100, which is $320.

The organiser publishes no 2027 exhibit hall hours. Its Exhibit Hall page returned an empty document on the October 20 read.

Parking on a one-day visit

The convention center garage at 141 E Brorein St holds 454 spaces, 11 ADA spaces and 2 EV chargers, with a maximum height of 6 feet 6 inches. The city prices it at an event rate of $5 to $50 and a non-event rate of $3 an hour with an $18 daily maximum.

Two city facilities price at $2 an hour with a $14 daily maximum: the Selmon Expressway West lot at 201 S Ashley Dr, with 54 spaces, and the Twiggs Street garage at 901 E Twiggs St, with 890 spaces. Both are non-event rates, and a conference day at the Brorein garage takes the event rate.

The city also runs 36 metered spaces on Front Drive at 333 S Franklin St at $4 an hour from 8 a.m. to midnight, with no overnight parking.

Three day rooms downtown

A Dayuse read of the Tampa city page on October 20 priced three downtown day rooms. Aloft Tampa Downtown reads $116 for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Westin Tampa Waterside reads $138 for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown reads $148 for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each card carries a booking fee of up to $9 inside the price it prints.

A 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. card covers a Wednesday afternoon session and holds a bag until an evening flight. No downtown card in the set opens before 10 a.m.

Booking notes

hotelSlots sells four slots: morning 6 a.m. to noon, afternoon noon to 6 p.m., evening 6 p.m. to midnight and overnight midnight to 6 a.m. Its home page states prices run 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates, and it lists $0 in fees with payment made at the hotel.

The platform's seller-of-travel notice, last updated October 20, 2026, lists Florida among four states it cannot serve, and states that the restriction applies across every hotelhuddle property. The Florida directory page returns a 404. A Tampa reader books the room with the property directly.

FMEA sells a full registration to a visitor who attends Wednesday only. The ladder prices no other route into the hall.
