A 350-Person Day Zero Before a 5,500-Person Conference

The AI Conference 2026 runs September 29 to October 1 at Pier 48, Shed A and B, 48 Pier 48, San Francisco, 94158, in the Mission Rock waterfront district. The FAQ states the event is in person only and begins at 8:00 a.m. PST. The home page counts 3 days, 7 tracks and 120+ speakers while the FAQ counts 5 tracks. The home page posts the next edition as a save-the-date for October 12 to 14, 2027.

Day Zero sits on September 29. The Day Zero page caps it at 350 participants and states the main conference will host over 5,500 attendees. The page marks Day Zero sold out and promises two-day pass holders a notification if new inventory opens.

The Published Day Zero Timetable

The Day Zero page prints the day: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for workshop programming, networking breaks between sessions, and a Day Zero Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for Day Zero badge holders. Programming splits into eight 90-minute workshops across a Technical track and a Leadership track, with attendees selecting one track at registration. Hack Day runs in parallel, and the winning team pitches a panel of venture capitalists at the Startup Showdown the next day.

So the badge day runs 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the shower and the desk come from elsewhere.

What the Venue Publishes

The FAQ lists 5 main areas: four presentation halls, a vendor and sponsor presentation area, and an atrium area where mixers and food and beverage are served, plus indoor and outdoor networking areas with tables. A scan of the FAQ, the home page, the Day Zero page and the agenda page returns no mention of showers, lockers, luggage storage or a day rate. The FAQ also states that Uber and Lyft cannot drop passengers in front of the building, and points parking information at ParkWhiz.

The Organiser's Own Hotel List

The FAQ carries eight nearby hotels, each with the organiser's own distance and a late-August or early-September cut-off. Luma Hotel San Francisco at 100 Channel Street, 94158 sits 0.3 mile or a 6-minute walk away. Hotel VIA at 138 King Street, 94107 sits 0.6 mile or a 9-minute walk away. The Hyatt Regency San Francisco at 50 3rd Street, 94103 sits 1.6 miles or 9 minutes by car. W San Francisco at 181 3rd Street sits 1.8 miles or 15 minutes by car and carries a still-available flag. SoMa House at 121 7th Street, 94103 and Hotel Fiona at 140 7th Street, 94103 each sit 1.9 miles or 11 minutes by car. Cartwright Hotel Union Square at 524 Sutter Street, 94102 sits 2.3 miles or 12 minutes by car and also carries a still-available flag. Hotel Julian at 940 Sutter Street, 94109 sits 2.4 miles or 13 minutes by car.

Every distance there is the organiser's own, and the list carries no day rate.

The Directory Carries All Eight

The hotelslots.org San Francisco directory reads 562 hotels available across the metro area. Each of the organiser's eight hotels has its own directory page with its own address and star tier: Luma Hotel San Francisco at 100 Channel Street, 4-star; Hotel VIA at 138 King Street, 4-star; the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SOMA at 50 3rd Street, 4-star; W San Francisco at 181 3rd Street, 4-star; SoMa House at 121 7th Street, 3-star; Hotel Fiona at 140 7th Street, 3-star; Hotel Cartwright at 524 Sutter Street, 3-star; and Hotel Julian at 940 Sutter Street, 3-star.

The directory prints no distance, so the organiser's walk and drive figures are the only proximity numbers for those eight. A second Hyatt Regency page sits at 5 Embarcadero Center, 94111, which is a different property from the conference hotel at 50 3rd Street.

What The Bands And The Rules Say

hotelslots.org publishes two discount bands. Its home page and FAQ say day-use rates run 30 to 75 percent less than nightly rates. Its day-use rooms page says 40 to 60 percent less than overnight. The platform charges no booking fee and the guest pays the hotel directly.

The day-use rooms page states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included, while the short-stay guide states those extras can all vary. The same guide states that day-use inventory is limited and that the best slots fill first, especially on weekday afternoons. September 29 is a Tuesday. Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington restrict day-use bookings under state travel law, and California is not among them.
