Four days in Indianapolis, one day on site
The National FFA Convention & Expo runs October 21 through October 24, 2026 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. That window runs Wednesday to Saturday. The venue forecasts 70,000 attendees.
The organizer publishes the session times. Opening Session 1A starts at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21. The American Degree Ceremony and the Seventh General Session close the run on Saturday, October 24, with the session at 1:30 p.m. All times are Eastern.
An Indianapolis-area member, or a parent, advisor or staff member making the trip in, drives in for one day of the run. A day room covers the hours on site for that single day.
A workspace between sessions
hotelSlots books daytime rooms in four blocks. Morning runs 6AM to 12PM, Afternoon runs 12PM to 6PM, Evening runs 6PM to 12AM and Overnight runs 12AM to 6AM. A guest books one block or combines several for full-day coverage.
The platform’s glossary defines a day-use room as a hotel room booked for daytime hours, typically 6 to 8 hours, without an overnight stay. Its help page lists the slot types hotels define: a 3-hour slot, a 6-hour slot and a full-day slot that typically runs 8AM to 6PM.
The platform markets daytime rooms for work on specific grounds. Its published list covers a quiet, professional space with reliable Wi-Fi away from home distractions, business-grade internet, a desk with ergonomic seating, privacy for calls, and gym, coffee and restaurant breaks between calls. Its short-stay guide calls a four-hour afternoon window enough for a shower, a nap and a focused stretch of work.
In convention week, a room keeps a call clear of a hall holding 70,000 people and holds a bag between the expo floor and the general sessions. The venue publishes its own downtown numbers: 7,100 hotel rooms downtown, 4,700 of them connected to the Convention Center by skywalk, 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance and 15 minutes to Indianapolis International Airport.
The Wednesday opening and the slot before it
The 3:30 p.m. Opening Session leaves the afternoon open for arrival. The Afternoon block runs 12PM to 6PM and covers that start with time in hand. The Morning block puts a room in hand from 6AM for a morning drive. A morning-and-afternoon booking runs from 6AM to 6PM.
The platform’s tips page states that hotels have more empty rooms from Tuesday through Thursday, that day-use rates run lower mid-week and that more time slots sit open. This convention blocks out Wednesday through Saturday.
Gym and pool access before the drive home
The platform’s day-use page states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included. Its short-stay guide states that Wi-Fi, a proper desk, gym access, pool access and parking can all vary by property. Both statements belong to the platform. A guest who books for the gym or the pool confirms it on the specific listing.
The Evening block, 6PM to 12AM, covers a workout or a swim after the day ends and before the drive home.
One day room against four nights
Engine publishes a USD 128 average nightly rate for Indianapolis across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, with October at USD 134. Four nights at the October average comes to USD 536, and four nights at the annual average comes to USD 512. Dayuse publishes an average price of USD 87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis.
The arithmetic uses published averages. Day rates move with the property, the time block and the day of the week. hotelSlots states that day-use rates run 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate at the same hotel, its day-use page states 40 to 60 percent below an overnight stay, and its rate guide prices a USD 180 nightly room as a day slot at roughly 40 to 60 percent of that figure. All three bands belong to the platform, and each sits on the page that carries it.
Downtown Indianapolis properties
The platform’s Indianapolis directory reads 273 hotels available in its header, 123 hotels to choose from in its body copy and 273 hotels ready to respond in a third place. Each card carries a street address, a postal code and a star rating. Read as printed on 21 September 2026.
Before you book
The venue publishes no door time for this convention, so confirm the arrival window with the organizer. The platform’s own inventory line matters in a week when 70,000 people are downtown: day-use inventory is limited by design, because a single room can host only so many daytime slots in one day, and the best slots at the best properties fill first, especially weekday afternoons. The earliest arrival and latest departure times on an offer cannot be changed.
Dayuse publishes its cancellation terms. A standard reservation, paid in full at the hotel, cancels free of charge at any time before the purchased time slot starts. A reservation fee paid in advance is non-refundable. An arrival time entered at booking is only indicative.
hotelSlots lists Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington as the states where state travel laws restrict day-use booking. Indianapolis sits outside those four states.
