A five-day meet without five nights of hotel bills
The NCAA lists the Division II men's and women's swimming and diving championship for March 9-13, 2027 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The NCAA's own 2026-27 updates memo dates the championships Tuesday to Saturday, March 9-13, 2027, and puts the diving qualification meet at the same venue on Tuesday, March 9.
Five days of preliminaries and finals do not have to mean a five-night stay for local families, officials and volunteers. A day-use room covers the hours you attend.
What the NCAA has published
The championship page describes the meet as preliminaries and finals in swimming events alongside diving competitions, with team and individual champions determined by cumulative points. The 2026-27 updates memo sets the field at 175 men, made up of 157 swimmers and 18 divers, and 205 women, made up of 183 swimmers and 22 divers, for 380 participants in total.
The memo also changes the diving format. The preliminary round uses the 11-dive format only, the final round keeps six optional dives and 11 dives, and a consolation final is added so divers who place ninth to 16th after preliminaries can finish higher than their first-round result.
The NCAA publishes no daily session clock for this meet. The championship page carries the dates, the venue and the city. The updates memo states that the Prechampionships Manual will be posted on ncaa.org by mid-November. Session times, credentials and site logistics sit in that manual, so confirm the daily timetable before you book a slot.
A slot for the hours between sessions
A championship day splits into preliminaries and finals. hotelSlots runs four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. The platform lets you book one slot or combine several for full-day coverage, and states that a day-use room is typically 6 to 8 hours. The same page states that day-use inventory is limited by design and that the best slots at the best properties fill first, especially weekday afternoons. This meet runs Tuesday through Saturday, so the weekday warning covers three of the five days.
What the room includes
The day-use page states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included and that morning, afternoon and full-day slots are available. The home page states that day-use guests get the same room types and amenities as overnight guests: Wi-Fi, TV, bathroom and room service. The short-stay guide states that Wi-Fi, a proper desk, gym access, pool access and parking can all vary by property. Check the inclusions on the individual listing.
Rooms near the venue
The Natatorium stands at 901 West New York Street. Wikipedia describes the building as a swimming complex on the campus of Indiana University Indianapolis. These Indianapolis directory listings carry addresses as the directory prints them, with road distance measured from each address to 901 West New York Street and read on 23 September 2026:
Residence Inn by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown on the Canal, 350 W New York Street, about 1.0 mile and 4 minutes. Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown, 515 South West Street, about 1.4 miles and 5 minutes. Staybridge Suites Indianapolis Downtown-Convention Center By IHG, 535 S. West Street, about 1.5 miles and 5 minutes. Candlewood Suites Indianapolis Downtown Medical District By IHG, 1152 North White River Parkway West Drive, about 1.8 miles and 5 minutes.
Those figures are driving estimates from OpenStreetMap data and OSRM routing. The directory header reads 273 hotels available in Indianapolis while the same page's body copy reads 123, so both counts belong to the platform rather than to the market.
What a day room costs in March
Dayuse publishes an average day-room price of $87.43 in Indianapolis and advertises up to 75 percent off an overnight stay, with free cancellation until the slot starts and payment at the hotel. Engine reports a $128 average nightly rate across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, with March at $122, five percent below the city average, and ranks Indianapolis 39th of 50 markets at 14 percent below the $148 median in its set. Engine's figures are par rates, the cheapest public price at the time of each search.
hotelSlots publishes two discount bands: 30-75 percent off nightly rates on its home page and 40-60 percent less than overnight on its day-use page. Each is a platform-published figure. The platform states it is free to use with no booking fees and no commission markup, and that you pay the hotel directly.
Before you book
Dayuse states that the earliest arrival and latest departure times on an offer cannot be changed, and that the arrival time entered at booking is only indicative. Its standard reservations cancel free until the slot starts.
Check the inclusions on the listing you choose. hotelSlots states on its day-use page that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included, and states in its short-stay guide that Wi-Fi, a desk, gym access, pool access and parking can vary by property.
The NCAA championship page names no parking facility for the 2027 meet, so treat parking as unconfirmed until the Prechampionships Manual lands in November. hotelSlots names Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington as states that restrict day-use bookings under state travel laws, and Indiana is not among them.
Reserve the slot once the timetable is public, and reserve it early. The platform states that the best slots at the best properties fill first.
