Day rooms for a noon-to-7:30 Children's Gasparilla

Children's Gasparilla runs 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, 23 January 2027, along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa. Admission is free. The organizer prints one caveat beside the clocks: times are subject to change.

Seven and a half hours in six blocks

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Rodeo opens the day at 12 p.m. and runs to 2 p.m. on Bayshore between Rome and Dakota avenues. Helmets are free while supplies last.

The Gasparilla Air Invasion flies 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Chuters Parachute Demonstration Team makes a precision jump that lands at DeSoto and Bayshore Boulevard, one block north of Howard Avenue.

The Preschooler's Stroll runs 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children five and under walk in decorated wagons, trikes and strollers, and participants pre-register. The organizer bars walk-ups.

The Children's Gasparilla Parade steps off at 3:30 p.m. and clears the route at 6:15 p.m. It starts at Bay to Bay Boulevard, runs 1.5 miles north and ends at Edison Avenue. More than 125 entry units take part. The parade has run since 1947, Fox 13 broadcasts it live, and the organizer states the event is alcohol-free.

The Nighttime Air Invasion flies 6:20 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Piratechnic finale fires 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The barges sit at Howard and Bayshore, and speakers at show center carry the music the show is choreographed to.

Crossing Bayshore

Crossings sit at each block from Barcelona Street to Edison Avenue and lead to the waterside. No reserved ticket is needed to cross.

Once the parade moves, a gate opens during a break in the lineup. A security officer escorts the crossing when police allow it. The FAQ states the event takes no responsibility for a guest who arrives late and misses a seat.

The free trolley runs to 8:30 p.m.

The Jolley Roger Trolley is free and wheelchair accessible. It picks up at Platt Street and Bayshore Boulevard near Publix and drops guests at Bay to Bay Boulevard and the Crosstown Expressway on-ramp, 1.5 blocks west of Bayshore. It runs 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The last run leaves an hour after the finale.

What a downtown day room covers

Dayuse listed 14 priced Tampa properties on 22 October 2026. Four sit downtown, and every displayed price on that page includes the booking fee.

Aloft Tampa Downtown lists $116 for a 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. window, 0.6 miles from the Tampa Convention Center. The page posts $250 as the comparative nightly rate.

The Westin Tampa Waterside lists $138 for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 0.3 miles from the convention center, with a $330 comparative nightly rate.

Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse lists $138 for 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., 0.7 miles out, and posts $305 as the comparative nightly rate.

Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown lists $148 for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The convention center hotel list carries The Floridan Palace Hotel at the same address, 905 N. Florida Avenue, at 1 mile.

A 4 p.m. close lands 30 minutes into the parade. A 5 p.m. close lands 90 minutes in. The 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. window covers the 3:30 p.m. step-off, the 7:30 p.m. finale and half an hour of the evening after it.

Families with young children get one clean overlap. The Preschooler's Stroll ends at 2:30 p.m., the Le Méridien window opens at 2 p.m., and the parade reaches the route at 3:30 p.m.

Remote workers get a desk from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a trolley line that keeps running to 8:30 p.m. The pickup sits at Platt Street and Bayshore Boulevard.

Three of the four windows close before 6 p.m. The window that runs to 8 p.m. holds a guest through the finale.

Rules that change the packing

Outside food and drink are barred from the event site, and coolers are barred from the parade route. Small soft-sided coolers and lunch bags are allowed for childcare and medical needs. Glass containers fall under a City of Tampa ordinance. Styrofoam, grills, tents, rope, stakes and fencing are barred. Chairs and blankets are allowed, and space is held by occupying it after dawn.

Strollers are allowed and must be stowed under the bleachers or on the ground in reserved sections. Pets are prohibited, apart from animals assisting the disabled. Bicycles may be ridden to the site and must be walked inside the closure.

The sensory relief tent sits at the southwest corner of Barcelona Street. The City of Tampa Autism Friendly Advisory Group, CARD-USF and Sunrise Group staff it, and it operates on Children's Gasparilla day.

Access and the figures to carry

Free disabled parking sits at Howard Avenue and Palm Drive, first come, with a permit required. The designated viewing area runs at Howard Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard and allows three guests per patron with a disability. The FAQ states that neither area has seats or bleachers.

Saturday, 23 January 2027. Gates at 12 p.m., parade 3:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., finale 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., trolley 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Day rooms run $116 to $148 all-in, and three of the four windows close before 6 p.m.
