Three days of gymnastics in downtown Indianapolis

The 35th annual DeVeau's Circle of Stars Gymnastics Invitational runs 29 through 31 January 2027 at the Indiana Convention Center. The venue lists the meet in Exhibit Hall I-K with a forecast attendance of 5,000. Friday, Saturday and Sunday make up the window, and that shape decides how long a club, a family or a coach stays.

The organiser describes the invitational as a men's and women's artistic gymnastics competition, with three women's gyms and one men's gym outfitted with AAI equipment. It posts $7,000 in team cash awards and a $1,500 scholarship for one athlete from each of the men's and women's competitions. DeVeau's Gymnastics Booster Club hosts the meet, and the organiser calls it one of the largest volunteer-run invitationals in the country.

The building and its skywalk network

The Indiana Convention Center sits at 100 South Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46225. Its hotels page states that more than half of downtown's 7,100+ hotel rooms sit within blocks of the center and Lucas Oil Stadium, and that downtown Indianapolis is conveniently walkable from there.

The venue counts 4,700 rooms connected to the building by skywalk. It describes the closing and opening window as event-dependent, with a rule of thumb of roughly 11:00 p.m. for evening lock down and roughly 6:00 a.m. for reopening. A three-day meet keeps competitors and families in the building for long stretches. A room inside that connected network places the hall, a change of clothes and a quiet seat on one continuous path.

What a day-use slot covers

A day-use room is booked in a defined block of hours rather than a night. hotelSlots offers four slots: Morning 6AM-12PM, Afternoon 12PM-6PM, Evening 6PM-12AM and Overnight 12AM-6AM. One slot can be booked on its own, and multiple slots can be combined for full-day coverage. The platform describes a day-use room as typically 6 to 8 hours, and its help centre states that day-use rooms include the same amenities as overnight stays: WiFi, room service, gym access and business facilities. The only difference is the duration.

The platform's glossary lists a day-use room as also known as a day stay or a day room, and defines a short stay as a hotel booking for fewer hours than a full night.

The gap between sessions

Between a morning session and an evening one, a family with a competing gymnast has time that does not fit inside a lobby. The platform's guide to short stays names the four-hour afternoon window as the block for a shower, a nap and a focused stretch of work, and recommends packing a change of clothes, a laptop charger and a small toiletry kit so the first fifteen minutes convert a short block into a restorative one.

That routine matters on a Sunday, when the three-day window closes and travel still has to happen. A room to change and reset before a drive is the practical addition a day-use block makes to the same trip.

Workspace for the remote worker

The same window serves an editor, a designer or a salesperson in town while their family is at the hall. hotelSlots describes its remote-work rooms as a quiet, professional space with reliable Wi-Fi, away from home distractions, with business-grade internet, desk and ergonomic seating, and gym, coffee and restaurant breaks between calls.

A hall-adjacent room keeps a remote worker close enough to step out for an awards session and back to a call. The venue counts 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance, and its skywalk network covers 4,700 rooms.

What a day costs in Indianapolis

Engine reports a $128 average nightly rate for Indianapolis across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, with a monthly low of $107 in February and $114 in January. Those are par rates, the cheapest publicly available price at the time of each search.

Day-use figures sit lower. Dayuse publishes an average day-room price of $87.43 for Indianapolis. hotelSlots states that day-use rates typically run 30-75% less than the nightly rate at the same hotel, that there are no booking fees or commission markup, and that a room selling for $180 a night might be offered as a day slot for roughly 40% to 60% of that figure. Its help centre puts the same band at 40-60% below overnight rates. All of those are published platform figures rather than audited market measures.

Booking timing and what to confirm

hotelSlots states that day-use inventory is limited by design, because a single room can only host so many daytime slots in one day, and that the best slots at the best properties fill first, especially weekday afternoons and airport-area locations. That scarcity line names weekday afternoons, and this meet falls on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Two more points before booking. Dayuse states that each hotel's earliest arrival and latest departure times are fixed in its booking form and cannot be changed, and that the arrival time entered at booking is only indicative. Property inclusions vary, so confirm the specific listing for Wi-Fi, desk, gym, pool and parking before paying. The platform lists Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington as the states that restrict day-use bookings under state travel laws. Indiana is not among them.

The Indiana Convention Center publishes the meet date, the hall and a forecast attendance of 5,000, and no session timetable. Confirm the daily schedule with the organiser, then match the slot to the session block that leaves the largest gap.
