A Saturday that runs from 9:00am to 10:00pm

The 42nd Annual Circle City Classic runs Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 S. Capitol Ave, Indianapolis. The stadium lists the event window as 10:00am to 10:00pm. The parking lot opens at 8:00am, the ticket office and the gates open at 9:00am, and the first kick-off is at 10:00am.

The organiser, Indiana Black Expo, runs the weekend as a Fall Festival across September 25 and 26. It opens with a pep rally on the Friday and builds the Saturday programme on and around the stadium field.

The programme from morning to night

Girls Flag Football Matchup #1, Crispus Attucks against Arsenal Tech, runs 10:00am to 11:15am on the stadium field. The Black Business Training Institute Networking Forum runs 10:00am to 2:00pm in the Blue Room. Education Day and the College Fair run 11:00am to 2:30pm in the Upper East Club Lounge. Girls Flag Football Matchup #2, Lawrence North against Ben Davis, runs 11:30am to 12:45pm.

The Tailgate and Fan Festival occupies South Street from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. The Day Party runs 1:00pm to 5:00pm in the Upper West Club. High School Showcase Game #1, Warren Central against Pike, has warm-ups at 1:00pm, pre-game ceremonies at 1:45pm and kick-off at 2:00pm.

The HBCU Battle of the Bands takes the field from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. High School Showcase Game #2, Lawrence North against Ben Davis, closes the day with warm-ups at 6:00pm, pre-game ceremonies at 6:45pm and kick-off at 7:00pm.

The hours between the games

The organiser's parade steps off at 10:00am on Saturday, September 26 and draws nearly 100,000 spectators through downtown Indianapolis. The 2:00pm showcase game ends in the late afternoon. The College Fair has closed by 2:30pm, and the tailgate runs to 10:00pm.

A guest who drives in for the day holds no hotel room through that stretch. A day-use booking covers a change of clothes between the parade and the evening kick-off, a desk for calls in the gap, and a shower before the 7:00pm start.

One ticket, five events, all-day access

The organiser sells the Saturday on its football page as one ticket, five events, all-day access, with an access window of 10:00am to 9:00pm. The venue lists the day as 10:00am to 10:00pm. Lucas Oil Stadium is a cashless venue and its clear bag policy is in effect for this event.

The five events are the two girls flag football matchups, the two high school showcase games and the Battle of the Bands. That battle features three HBCU bands: the Talladega College Great Tornado Band, founded at Alabama's first private historically Black college and more than 250 members strong since 2012; the Kentucky State University Mighty Marching Thorobreds, named Best Band in the Land at the 2019 National HBCU Awards; and the Miles College Purple Marching Machine, twice the ESPN and Red Lobster HBCU Division II Band of the Year.

What the ticket supports

Circle City Classic is a scholarship fundraiser. Indiana Black Expo reports that it has awarded over $5 million in scholarships since 1984, and that the Classic has contributed more than $340 million to the Indianapolis economy over the same span. Education Day attendance is included with a Classic ticket and drew about 2,500 attendees in 2025.

The organiser lists the College Fair at 11:00am to 4:00pm in the East Lounge, against the venue's listing of 11:00am to 2:30pm in the Upper East Club Lounge. Both agree on the 11:00am start. Confirm the closing hour with the organiser if the fair is the reason for the trip.

The overnight comparison

Dayuse publishes an average price of $87.43 for a day room in Indianapolis. Engine puts the city average nightly rate at $128 across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, and those are par rates rather than booked rates. September averages $117, 9 percent below the city figure, and October averages $134, 5 percent above it. Engine ranks Indianapolis 39th of 50 major markets, 14 percent below the $148 median, with rates swinging 32 percent across the year.

Booking the day

hotelSlots sells day-use rooms in four blocks: Morning 6AM to 12PM, Afternoon 12PM to 6PM, Evening 6PM to 12AM and Overnight 12AM to 6AM, and a guest can combine slots. A day-use room runs typically 6 to 8 hours, and the platform states its rates are 30 to 75 percent below nightly rates at the same hotels.

The platform is free to use, with no booking fees and no commission markup, and the guest pays the hotel directly. State travel law restricts day-use bookings in Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington, and Indiana is not among them. hotelSlots states that pool, gym, Wi-Fi and shower access are included on a day-use booking, while its short-stay guide states those extras can all vary by property, so confirm inclusions on the listing. Inventory is limited by design and the best slots fill first.
