CANVAS 2026 runs Sunday 1 November through Wednesday 4 November at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. It is the annual meeting of the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America. The organiser counts 4,000+ attendees, and the venue lists the meeting in Halls A1-B-C.
The one-day price moved on 3 October
A member one-day badge costs $660. A nonmember one-day badge costs $760. Both have held since 3 October. Through 2 October they were $560 and $660. A full professional registration costs $910 for a member and $1,210 for a nonmember.
Registration covers the exhibit hall, the opening and closing receptions and the limited virtual programme. It covers no meal. The cancellation ladder charges nothing before 3 October, $100 before 8 October, and nothing back from 8 October.
Workshops add $25 to $125
Every workshop is a separate purchase. The ladder runs $25 to $125 on length and purchase date.
The cheapest three sit on Sunday 1 November. Growing with Biochar runs noon to 3 p.m. at $25 through 23 September and $30 after. Data You Can Defend runs 1 to 3 p.m. at the same $25 and $30. Mapping Soils In Motion runs 1 to 4:30 p.m. at $25 and $30. The systematic review and meta-analysis workshop runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at $70 and $75.
The top of the ladder is the two-day Bayesian Data Analysis workshop at $110 through 23 September and $125 after. It runs Saturday 31 October, 3 to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 November, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the instructor asks for the software installed in advance.
The Women in Science workshop on Tuesday 3 November, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., costs $40 or $45 for professionals and $20 or $25 for students.
Cool rooms, no meals, no cash
The FAQ states that meeting rooms are often kept at cool temperatures and recommends layered clothing. The same FAQ answers the meal question in one line: no meals are included, though breaks and receptions may carry snacks and coffee.
The Oregon Convention Center is a cashless venue. It takes credit and debit cards and touchless payment only. Five ATMs sit in the pre-function lobbies and on the south Ginkoberry Concourse. A reverse ATM in the MLK Lobby, down the short hallway left of the welcome desk, loads $1 to $500 onto a Visa card with no fee. The card cannot be reloaded.
Room C128 opens at 6 p.m. on Sunday
The organiser publishes an on-site room for its diversity, equity and inclusion advocate. Room C128 on the first floor is staffed Sunday 6 to 9 p.m., then Monday to Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The same person takes phone and text at 949-293-7515 in those hours.
The venue runs two first aid rooms, one in the Exhibit Hall A Lobby and one outside Exhibit Hall E. An emergency medical technician is on site for any event above 1,000 attendees, reachable from a house phone on extension 7849.
What a day room covers that the badge does not
The registration desk opens Saturday 31 October, 4 to 7 p.m., runs Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday and Tuesday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closes Wednesday at noon. Complimentary Wi-Fi covers all lobbies and meeting rooms, with paid tiers at $12 and $50 per day.
Day rates on the Portland city page of the day-use platform, read at 21:35 UTC on 18 October 2026, in straight-line miles from the 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd address point: Jupiter Original 0.43 miles at $89 against $150, 41 percent lower, on 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Jupiter Next 0.44 miles at $123 against $209, 42 percent lower, on 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Downtown 0.65 miles at $131 against $228, 43 percent lower, on 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown 0.86 miles at $110 against $173, 37 percent lower, with five windows including 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Two windows do the work for a one-day badge. The 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Royal Sonesta window covers a Sunday that starts with a workshop and ends after the 5:30 p.m. keynote. The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jupiter Original window covers a workshop that ends at 4 p.m.
Parking, and the walk from the garage
The underground garage holds 800 spaces. Entry costs $15 for up to 18 hours with no in and out privileges, and a dynamic $15 to $25 applies at event entry. The garage opens at 6 a.m. and overnight parking is prohibited. MAX stops 300 times a day near the front door, and 566 metered spaces sit within three blocks.
Book the hours the badge leaves open
A one-day badge buys a seat, a hall and a reception. It buys no meal, no shower and no quiet desk between sessions.
Set the day-room window against the workshop hours before paying. The property sets the clock and the inclusions, so confirm both on the listing. Rates on this market move: the same city page has carried different prices for the same property across reads.
