The 2027 AAD Annual Meeting Runs Five Days in San Francisco
The American Academy of Dermatology holds its 2027 Annual Meeting from March 19 to 23 in San Francisco, and the meeting page carries the dates as "Save the Date - March 19-23, 2027 in San Francisco, California." Registration opens in two waves: Nov. 18, 2026 at 12 p.m. noon CT for physician, life and honorary members, then Nov. 24, 2026 at 12 p.m. noon CT for all remaining categories. Early-bird registration closes Feb. 17, 2027 at 12 p.m. noon CT. The Academy sets its housing deadline at Wednesday, February 24, 2027.
The Unopposed Hour Is Noon to 1 p.m., March 19-21
The Exhibit Hall sits in the Lower Level of the North Building. The published floor hours run Friday and Saturday, March 19-20: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 21: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Academy then clears the floor: "Unopposed exhibit hours Friday - Sunday, March 19-21 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m." That is one protected hour a day, for three days, with nothing else on the programme.
A delegate with a laptop and a call to make has the same problem in that hour as in any other. Moscone publishes no bookable room for an individual. The venue FAQ states the center "does not rent rooms on an individual basis". The Academy publishes no private work room of its own.
Bags Go to the Check Counter
The Academy removes the rolling bag from the floor entirely. "No handcarts, trolleys, or rolling bags/luggage in the exhibit hall: Please be aware that, for security and safety reasons, no handcarts, trolleys, or rolling bags/luggage are allowed in the Exhibit Hall during show hours." The next line names the penalty and the alternative: "Attendees found on the exhibit floor with these items will be asked to leave the Exhibit Hall. Bags may be stored at the coat/baggage check at the applicable rates."
A coat and baggage check returns a bag at the end of the hour. A day room a few blocks from 747 Howard Street carries the desk, the socket and the door for those hours.
Childcare Publishes Six Days, Not Five
The Academy runs childcare for children aged 6 months to 12 years in partnership with KiddieCorp, at $20 per hour per child including meals, snacks, age-appropriate games and arts and crafts. The published table holds six dated rows: Thursday, March 18: 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Friday, March 19: 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 20: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, March 21: 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Monday, March 22: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday, March 23: 6:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The location is The Moscone Center, 747 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103. Childcare registration opens Nov. 18, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The Friday table brackets a thirteen-hour day, from the 6:30 a.m. open to the 7:30 p.m. close. A parent on that schedule runs one badge day. That parent needs a room in the middle of the day.
What the Academy Hotel Block Costs a One-Day Visitor
The Academy cancellation ladder decides whether its room block suits a short trip. Until Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2027 at 12 p.m. noon CT, cancelling a reservation costs $100 per reservation, quote "regardless of cancellation reason or method". After that time the fee becomes one night room and current sales tax. From Friday, Feb. 26, 2027 the card on file is charged a one-night room-and-tax deposit that the Academy calls non-refundable. Changes are accepted online until Feb. 24, closed from Feb. 25 to Feb. 28 while reservations transfer to the hotels, and handled by the hotel from March 1, 2027. Switching hotels after Feb. 25, 2027 forfeits the deposit. Maritz Global Events is the Academy named registration and housing provider.
A delegate who wants one afternoon on the floor therefore carries the same deposit and the same $100 exit fee as a five-night attendee.
The Day Room That Fits the Midday Gap

Rates run 30-75% below the nightly rate at the same property, the platform charges no booking fee, and you pay the hotel directly. The unopposed hour sits inside the afternoon window, and a morning window covers the 7:00 a.m. Sunday childcare opening. A few states (FL, HI, IA, WA) restrict day-use bookings under state travel laws, and California is not one of them.
