The pass and its date

The 106th TRB Annual Meeting runs January 10-14, 2027 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and the Marriott Marquis in Washington. The Expo Only Day Pass costs $100. TRB sells it online starting January 8, 2027 and onsite starting January 10, 2027. It carries the lowest price on the fee table.

What the hundred dollars covers

TRB states that the pass includes limited access to the Mobile App. It excludes sessions, workshops, committee meetings, the TRB hotel block, the online program and the printed program.

TRB requires registration from everyone who attends and names exhibit visitors in that rule. The day pass serves the visitor who spends a day on the floor.

The room the pass cannot book

The TRB Housing Bureau holds guest rooms at the Federal per diem rate of $203 a night. A guest room in that block requires a meeting registration. The Expo Only Day Pass does not qualify. Reservations run through December 21, 2026 or until the block sells out. The bureau asks for a credit card guarantee, and the block includes complimentary in-room Wi-Fi.

That is the hinge of the one-day trip. A visitor who wants a $203 room inside the block buys a registration that carries the block. A visitor who buys the $100 pass books outside it.

The room math

On a 23 October 2026 read of dayuse.com/l/hourly-hotels-washington, 20 properties carried a day rate. Seven sat in the District. The closest to the convention center was AC Hotel Washington DC Convention Center at $104 all-in, 0.16 straight-line miles from the 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW pin, with 8am-2pm, 10am-5pm and 1pm-7pm windows. Then Le Meridien Washington DC The Madison at $140 and 0.62 miles, Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square at $169 and 0.63 miles, Viceroy Washington DC at $144 and 0.64 miles, The Capital Hilton at $116 and 0.69 miles, The Beacon Hotel at $96 and 0.85 miles, and Melrose Georgetown Hotel at $111 and 1.59 miles. The DC seven averaged $125.71. The full 20-card set ran $75 to $169 with a $105.90 mean.

Put the pass and the closest day room together. The $100 pass and the $104 room total $204. One Day Registration reads $735 on the early-bird line, $915 by January 7, and $945 onsite. The gap between the day plan and the early-bird one-day badge is $531.

The one-day registration carries a day of sessions, workshops and committee meetings, plus the block. The $204 plan buys the exhibit floor and a desk. A delegate with a paper to present, a committee seat or a client meeting needs the badge. A delegate who walks the floor for one day and works from a room in between does not.

A full week carries a larger bill. Four nights in the block at $203 comes to $812, which lands at $2,037 with early-bird General Registration at $1,225.

Three days of exhibits

The hall opens Sunday January 10, 4pm-7pm, as the opening and reception. Monday runs 9am-4pm with a coffee break from 9:30am to 10:15am. Tuesday runs 9am-4pm. TRB lists more than 200 exhibits and counts three days of exhibits among the registration inclusions.

Both full days carry the same window, so either one clears the floor. Sunday suits a traveller who lands early and wants the reception.

The Career Fair runs Sunday 10am-2pm, before the hall opens.

Getting in and out

Mt Vernon Square/7th St-Convention Center Station on the Green or Yellow lines is the closest stop. The convention center entrance at M and 7th Streets NW sits adjacent to it. Reagan National is 5 miles and 20 minutes, Dulles 29 miles and 50 minutes, BWI 32 miles and 60 minutes, and Union Station 1.2 miles and 10 minutes. TRB puts taxi fares between the convention center and its hotels at $5 to $15.

A name badge must be worn at all times, and a reprint costs $50. Registration cancellations go in writing to TRB@spargoinc.com by December 9, 2026, with a $50 fee deducted from the refund.

The booking order

Fix the exhibit day first, because the pass is the gate and it goes on sale January 8 online. Set the day room for that same date. The AC Hotel 10am-5pm window covers the Monday hall hours from opening to an hour past close. Re-read the card before booking, since rates and windows move, and confirm at the property what the slot includes.
