YALLFest 2026: day rooms for the King Street panel run

The Saturday clock runs ten to seven

YALLFest 2026 takes Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November. Saturday is the day that needs a base in town. It opens with the Opening Keynote at 10:00 in Charleston Music Hall at 37 John Street, with Cassandra Clare, Veronica Roth and Tahereh Mafi. It closes with the Smackdown from 18:00 to 19:00 in the same room, hosted by Ryan La Sala and Kat Cho.

Eight 40-minute panel slots run on the hour from 10:00 to 17:00, and each ends at :40. The 10:00 slot runs beside the opening keynote. The organiser counts 28 panels. None of them requires a ticket.

The three headliners do. The Opening Keynote sells at $10.00, or $12.68 with fees. The Smackdown sells at $12.00, or $14.81. The Closing Keynote takes the Music Hall from 17:00 to 18:00 with Ayana Gray, F. A. Davidson, Sarah Dessen and Ann Liang. Each ticket page states that a keynote ticket covers the keynote only and carries no place in a signing line.

Three rooms inside a quarter mile

The panels use three Saturday-only buildings. Charleston Museum, Event Quad, at 360 Meeting Street. American Theater, with a ballroom, a cinema and the Stars Bar, at 446 King Street, entered off King Street. Charleston Music Hall at 37 John Street. The Big Book Tent and Lit Alley sit at 418 to 422 King Street, and the Merch and Info Tent opens Friday and Saturday at 422 King Street.

Straight-line distances between the three panel rooms are short. Museum to Music Hall measures 0.12 miles. Museum to American Theater measures 0.13. American Theater to Music Hall measures 0.08. The 20-minute changeover between slots covers the walk in every pairing.

The organiser states that most festival venues sit within three blocks of Blue Bicycle Books at 420 King Street.

Where the day-use rooms are

A day room in Charleston is a bridge crossing or a drive up the interstate. The Dayuse carousel for Charleston, read on 25 October 2026, returns seven priced cards, and none of them sits on the peninsula. The closest is Best Western Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, 2.47 straight-line miles from the Museum at 360 Meeting Street, and the drive crosses the Ravenel bridge. The other six sit between 7.00 and 16.16 miles out, in North Charleston, Ladson and Goose Creek.

Fee-inclusive day rates across the seven run $76.00 to $135.75, with a mean of $96.25.

The hotelSlots directory for Charleston carries 253 hotels. Its first page lists peninsula addresses in full, among them Andrew Pinckney Inn at 199 Church Street, Church Street Inn at 177 Church Street and Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston at 144 Bee Street. No listing publishes a day rate. The page collects a request instead.

Which window covers which part of the day

The seven cards sell these windows, with the fee already inside the quoted price.

Best Western Patriots Point runs 08:00 to 14:00, 09:00 to 17:00 and 17:00 to 23:00 at $85. Econo Lodge Goose Creek runs the same three at $76. Quality Inn Coliseum North Charleston runs 08:00 to 14:00, 10:00 to 18:00 and 16:00 to 23:00 at $81. Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport sells one window, 09:00 to 17:00, at $135.75. Comfort Inn and Suites Charleston Airport Convention Center sells 07:00 to 14:00 and 10:00 to 17:00 at $100. Comfort Inn and Suites North Charleston Northwoods sells the same two at $100. StayAPT Suites North Charleston sells 10:00 to 18:00 at $96.

Two cards span the daylight programme in a single window. Quality Inn Coliseum sells 10:00 to 18:00 for $81 and sits 7.34 miles from the Museum. StayAPT sells the same window for $96 at 15.09 miles. Nothing in the set covers 18:00 to 19:00 except the two 17:00 to 23:00 windows, at Best Western for $85 and Econo Lodge for $76, and those open as the Smackdown opens.

A reader who wants three hours before the 10:00 keynote books a 07:00 start, which means Comfort Inn Airport or Comfort Inn Northwoods, both $100.

The garages the organiser lists

The Location and Parking page names two garages and links each to ABM Parking.

Camden Garage at 35 John Street, 29403, entered on John Street, sits 0.03 straight-line miles from the Music Hall. ABM describes it as serving the Hampton Inn and Embassy Suites hotels along with the Historic Charleston Music Hall, and it posts a clearance of 6 feet 5 inches on the lower level. Visitor Center Parking Garage at 63 Mary Street, 29403, has two entrances with the Ann Street entrance on Wragg Square, and it sits 0.09 miles from the Museum at 6 feet 10 inches. Both run 24 hours.

Both pages post the same rate: $1.00 for each 20 minutes and $24.00 for a daily maximum, with a $50.00 lost-ticket fee. The Visitor Center adds an evening special at $7.00 on entry after 3 p.m. and $5.00 after 5 p.m., with exit by 3 a.m. Buses and RVs enter on Mary Street, where the clearance reads 12 feet 8 inches.

The organiser also points readers to the city parking page for a wider list.

Booking the gap

hotelSlots sells four windows: Morning 6AM to 12PM, Afternoon 12PM to 6PM, Evening 6PM to 12AM and Overnight 12AM to 6AM. The platform lets a guest combine slots for full-day coverage. It states day-use prices typically run 30 to 75 percent below the nightly rate at the same property, with no booking fees and payment made to the hotel. It lists 103,857 hotels across 46 states.

The arithmetic for this Saturday is simple. Panels run back to back with 20 minutes between them and the day ends at 19:00. A room off the peninsula works as a base for the morning, for the long midday stretch, or for the shower after the Smackdown. It covers no step out between two panels. Plan the room against the 10:00 open or the 19:00 close.
