The Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic runs February 13, 14 and 15, 2027 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Those dates are the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Presidents' Day weekend. The organiser lists 968 teams across 122 courts in Halls A, B, C, D, E and the ballroom.
Play runs in an AM wave and a PM wave. One spectator ticket covers both. That rule opens a block of workable hours for a parent who works the weekend inside a building with admissions from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the first two days.
The shape of the three days
The format page states two waves and at least seven matches guaranteed in each division. Pool play covers day one and day two. Bracket play covers day three. Each division supplies a first referee and the work team supplies the second. No tie-breaker sets apply. Teams bring their own volleyballs.
The 2027 schedule posts on Thursday, February 11, two days before the first serve. Wave start times read TBD on the page today. Seeding uses tournament results through February 1, 2027.
The ticket rules that decide the plan
Tickets go on sale Monday, February 8, 2027 at 10 a.m. EST. Purchase happens online only, with no onsite cash or credit sale. Every spectator needs a team code from a club, and each club shares that code with its own spectators. A QR code arrives once registration completes. Entry and re-entry need the QR code plus a matching photo ID. A minor without an ID enters with an adult who holds both.
A scanned ticket cannot be refunded or reassigned. Refund requests close at 10 p.m. EST on Friday, February 12, the night before play. Every attendee enters a USAV sanctioned event under the USAV Spectator Code of Conduct.
The hours, day by day
Admissions run 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 and again on Sunday, February 14. Monday, February 15 runs 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Entry begins one hour before the first match of the day. Spectators use their own entrances at the Marriott Marquis Connector and on Mt. Vernon Street.
Monday closes at 2 p.m. The organiser recommends a flight departure of 6 p.m. or later on the 15th. That leaves four hours between the end of bracket play and the airport run, with a hotel checkout inside the same stretch.
Where the building sits
The venue address is 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, Washington, DC 20001. Green and Yellow line trains stop at Mt. Vernon Square/Convention Center, with station entrances leading directly into the building. Events DC lists more than 700,000 square feet for exhibiting and 77 meeting rooms. The Center holds no public parking, and more than 3,000 spaces sit within a three-block radius. Complimentary Wi-Fi runs across the facility at 768 kBps download and 768 kBps upload.
Pricing the gap
hotelslots.org sells four windows: Morning 6am to 12pm, Afternoon 12pm to 6pm, Evening 6pm to 12am and Overnight 12am to 6am. The platform charges no booking fee. The guest pays the hotel directly.
dayuse.com listed 20 priced cards on its Washington page on 23 October 2026. All-in rates averaged $105.90 and ran from $75 to $169. Seven cards sat in a District neighbourhood and averaged $125.71. The AC Hotel Washington DC Convention Center carried $104 all-in, $5 of which is a booking fee, with windows at 8am to 2pm, 10am to 5pm and 1pm to 7pm. Rates move between reads. Re-check the card before booking.
The working parent plan
Take the wave assignment from the coach, then match a window to it. A parent rostered to the AM wave works the afternoon window and rejoins for the late matches. A parent rostered to the PM wave works the morning window before play starts.
Two published facts set the edges. The building closes at 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, which caps any evening block. Monday closes at 2 p.m., so the last day leaves a gap on the airport side of the tournament.
Book the room after the flight and after the schedule posts. The organiser publishes the grid on February 11 and the tournament starts on February 13.
